Wrexham’s summer spending is set to continue as we can exclusively reveal that Kieffer Moore has chosen a switch to the Racecourse Ground despite late interest elsewhere.

Phil Parkinson already has former record signing Sam Smith and new boy Ryan Hardie as part of his strike force, but the Wrexham boss wants more goalscorers.

Things have moved quickly on that front, with Wrexham pushing hard to sign Kieffer Moore from Sheffield United.

A deal was agreed for Moore just a couple of days ago, and now The Wrexham Insider can exclusively reveal the latest from behind the scenes on that move.

Wrexham hold off competition for Kieffer Moore signature

Just yesterday, it was revealed Moore was having his medical at Wrexham ahead of completing a switch from the Blades.

As per information from our Chief Football Correspondent Graeme Bailey, we understand Wrexham were able to hold off interest from a number of clubs in the Championship to bag Kieffer Moore.

It’s said Moore has been a target for Wrexham throughout the summer and the £2m is ready to be completed after the experienced forward chose Wrexham over other second tier sides.

On the move, Bailey said: “I am told that there was some real interest late on for Moore, a couple of Championship rivals tried to hijack the deal, but Phil Parkinson is going to get his man.”

Kieffer Moore suits Phil Parkinson’s style, but is that a good thing?

As a big, physical striker, it’s obvious Kieffer Moore fits Phil Parkinson’s system perfectly. The Wrexham manager has always preferred to play with a target man, and it seems that method will prevail this season once again.

However, rival fans believe the Moore deal is a mistake, especially given his age. More importantly, there’s a risk that Wrexham’s tried and tested style of play will get found out very quickly at Championship level if Parkinson is not prepared to adapt.

Moore’s record at this level is decent without being remarkable. Whether he can find fresh momentum and flourish at Wrexham remains to be seen, but either way, it seems the Red Dragons fans will have a new striker to cheer on very soon.
