Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson is under the spotlight after a slow start to the season, with his future at the club far from certain.
Although Wrexham go into this October international break with one defeat in their last nine games in all competitions, there’s certainly a sense that the Dragons aren’t performing as well as they should be right now.
In the summer transfer window, Wrexham spent £33million on new players and so there’s a lot of expectation on the club to perform well this season.
But after Wrexham’s 1-1 draw with Birmingham City last time out, the Dragons now find themselves slumped in 18th place of the Championship table, with only two wins from their opening nine league games.
After defeat against QPR last month, there were reports that Wrexham were considering sacking Parkinson. Though a relatively strong run since then has seemingly eased that tension.

Danny Rohl nearing new job after leaving Sheffield Wednesday
One manager who’s arguably the hottest property among Championship teams right now is Danny Rohl. The innovative German manager, who plied his trade in the Red Bull set up and with Bayern Munich and the German national side as an assistant, is out of a job right now.
He defied the odds to keep Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship a year ago, then finishing 12th last season before leaving the club in the summer.
But an emerging report from talkSPORT says Rohl is now determined to return to management at the ‘earliest opportunity’, with Rangers previously linked and now looking for a new manager after Russell Martin’s exit.
Three reasons why Danny Rohl is perfect for Wrexham
He’s the opposite of Phil Parkinson
Whilst Parkinson has worked wonders for Wrexham, his style of play is looking as though it can’t keep up with the increased quality of the Championship.
Rohl meanwhile has a hugely contemporary style of play and it’s proven to have worked in the Championship too. Given the technical quality of Wrexham’s side, Rohl could be the perfect man to unlock the Dragons’ potential.
Danny Rohl can work on a tight budget
At Wednesday, Rohl had barely any resources. Yet he did tremendously well with what he did have. Given a transfer budget like Wrexham’s, Rohl would surely flourish as he’d be able to sign just about any player he wanted, within reason of course.
And for Rohl, joining a club like Wrexham with the resources they have comparative to their Championship rivals, would surely be attractive.
Danny Rohl and Wrexham share the same ambitions
Wrexham want to reach the Premier League within the next 10 years and they’re on course to do just that. And Rohl mentioned many times at Wednesday that his ambition is to one day manage in the Premier League.
The pair align on that factor and so the Wrexham project as a whole, and the club’s future ambitions could be a hugely persuasive factor should Wrexham go for Rohl.
Right now though, Parkinson’s job is safe at Wrexham and the idea of the owners looking for a change in this international break is far-fetched.
The November break though could prove much more interesting.
