Wrexham have added another new name to their summer transfer wishlist, and it’s certainly a player who’d add Championship quality to the ranks.

Going into this summer, it was made clear that Wrexham want to sign players with Championship experience this summer, and we’ve seen that come to fruition with the signing of Ryan Hardie.

Hardie shone for Plymouth Argyle scoring 22 Championship goals across the last two seasons. On top of that, Wrexham have signed Danny Ward who brings a huge amount of overall experience to the ranks.

Elsewhere, Wrexham are interested in Callum Robinson at Cardiff City: he has a staggering 272 appearances in the Championship alone, along with an impressive 61 goals and 36 assists.

It’s exactly the type of signing that Phil Parkinson wants and needs to make this summer. Now, there’s another new name on his radar in Callum Brittain.

Wrexham join the transfer race for Callum Brittain

On Tuesday, reports emerged revealing that Wrexham are among the clubs interested in Brittain, 27, who featured 33 times in the Championship for Blackburn Rovers last season, scoring twice and assisting five more from the right wing-back position.

And he’s a player who former Blackburn Rovers boss John Eustace is very much a fan of: now at Derby County, Eustace wants a reunion with Brittain this summer, having given him some huge praise whilst at Ewood Park last time round.

Speaking about Brittain, Eustace said: “He’s doing a lot of work on his defensive role and full credit has to go to the staff who have been working with him on that and helping mature him into one of the best full-backs in the league.

“I think he’s improving week by week and he’s growing into one of the top performers in the league. We’re very fortunate to have him here and he’s a huge part of how we want to play.

“He’s got great quality, he’s getting better and better defensively and he has a fantastic attitude as well.”

Callum Brittain’s Championship stats are seriously impressive

Despite being only 27 years old, Brittain has an incredible 180 appearances to his name in the second tier, along with three goals and an impressive 19 assists too.

Mainly a right-back, Brittain has also spent a lot of time playing as a right-sided midfielder too, with 132 appearances as a right-back and 120 as a right-sided midfielder in his career, having also filled in as a defensive midfielder on occasion.

Wrexham desperately need a right-back this summer with Luke Bolton facing an uncertain future at the club: he was recently left out of Wrexham’s squad for the pre-season tour of Australia, though it’s understood that was because he recently welcomed a new child.

Brittain has been a Championship player for the last five seasons now. The first two were with Barnsley and the last three with Blackburn where he’s established himself, in the words of Eustace, as one of the league’s best in his position.

For Wrexham, this would be a real statement signing to snatch a key player from a Championship rival, and with his contract out in 2026, it might be well within Wrexham’s summer transfer budget.
