Wrexham have confirmed the signing of George Thomason, with the midfielder penning a three-year contract at the STōK Cae Ras.
Wrexham are in the midst of a real flurry of activity as Phil Parkinson strengthens his squad for the Championship season.
Liberato Cacace signed for Wrexham on Friday, with the New Zealand international finalising a club-record switch from Empoli.
An attacking signing now looks to be imminent, with Josh Windass undergoing a medical with Wrexham ahead of a free transfer move.
Windass will not be Wrexham’s fourth signing of the summer, though, as George Thomason has completed his move to the STōK Cae Ras.

Bolton Wanderers fans on George Thomason
Reports last week suggested that Wrexham were moving to sign Thomason in a £1.2million raid on Bolton Wanderers.
Thomason missed Bolton’s friendly with Hibernian over the weekend, with the midfielder finalising his move to Wrexham.
Wrexham have now presented Thomason as Parkinson’s fourth summer signing, following on from Ryan Hardie, Danny Ward and Cacace.
Thomason spent five years with Wanderers but is now ready for a new start with Wrexham, taking the step up to the Championship for the first time.
Bolton fans have now taken to social media to react to Thomason’s move, with many praising the midfielder as he makes the move to North Wales.
Many believe that Thomason was a hard worker and an ‘absolute grafter’, praising him for his ‘brilliant attitude’.
Others called Thomason a ‘warrior’, and feel that he is a simply perfect player for Parkinson and Wrexham.
Some praised Thomason’s left foot and feel he will be missed, even if some Bolton fans have been on his back of late.
- Quality player who always gave everything for the shirt, good luck George and thanks for everything!
- I’m sad about this one. Highly rate George, always gave his best for the shirt. Captained the club. I don’t think he warranted some of the negative reviews he got. Wish him all the best, and I hope the club invest the money gained into a good signing!
- Been a great character on and off the pitch over the years. Hardest worker and a warrior in the side week in week out. Sad to see you go after all these years, but good luck in the future Thommo
- All the very best George. Only my opinion, but you were by some distance our best midfield player of those still with us at the end of last season. Thanks for your 100% commitment. Wrexham have gained a good footballer.
- Good luck George. Brilliant attitude and work rate. Very good left foot when he was on it, too. Underrated for me. Good money for us, but will miss him.
- Good luck Thommo! Outstanding servant for the club, always gave his all. No surprise he’s the only midfielder to have multiple 6-figure offers, maybe some of the armchair fans on here should consider that
- Ah man, that one hurts – class player, even better lad. Good luck at Wrexham, Tommo
- Good deal for all parties. I honestly think he’s perfect for Parky, and I just feel Simons/Morley/Sheehan and Dempsey are better options for what we need. Hope he does well
- Not a bad word to say about the lad, cracking player who always gave 100% when wearing the shirt!
- Gutted, although it seems like the right thing to do. Buzzing for him to be playing at a higher level, with likely a decent pay rise. Absolute grafter.
George Thomason’s inspiring rise
Not everybody can be like Lionel Messi, blessed with God-given talent and seemingly destined for greatness.
Many players have to scrap and claw for every opportunity and drag themselves up after major disappointment.
Thomason fits that mould, having emerged in the Blackpool youth ranks before being released as a 16-year-old.
Many find it difficult to come back from that rejection, but Thomason threw himself straight into men’s football at non-league level.
Thomason joined Longridge Town after leaving Blackpool, prioritising his development with regular first-team football against grown men.
Thomason excelled with Longridge Town and joined Bolton in 2020, though he was then loaned out to Bamber Bridge on two occasions.
The 24-year-old hasn’t looked back since, racking up more than 150 appearances for Bolton, featuring in both League Two and League One.
Now set for a first taste of Championship football, Thomason should be incredibly proud of his rise, and he will back himself to make another step up after shining in League One.
