Wrexham snapped up Kieffer Moore on Tuesday, but Phil Parkinson continues to chase further attacking signings.

Wrexham take on Southampton to kick off the Championship season in just a matter of days.

The new campaign is looming large, and Wrexham’s push for new signings has continued ahead of facing the Saints.

Kieffer Moore finalised his move to Wrexham on Tuesday, penning a three-year deal at the STōK Cae Ras.

The giant striker gives Parkinson another target man option in attack, possibly pushing Ollie Palmer closer to the exit door in the process.

Moore joins fellow forwards Ryan Hardie and Josh Windass in signing for Wrexham, but another attacking signing could still arrive.

Kieran McKenna on Nathan Broadhead to Wrexham

Reports last week suggested that Wrexham were chasing Nathan Broadhead in a huge swoop on Ipswich Town.

Further claims suggested that Wrexham had thrashed out a £7.5million deal for Broadhead, but progress has been slow.

Broadhead played for Ipswich over the weekend as Tractor Boys boss Kieran McKenna admitted interest in the Welshman.

Ipswich are now preparing to face Birmingham City on Friday night, and McKenna has commented on Broadhead once again.

Speaking to the East Anglian Daily Times, McKenna admitted that Broadhead has ‘expressed his desire’ to leave Ipswich for ‘another opportunity’.

McKenna stopped short of confirming that Wrexham are the club involved, but it’s almost certainly a move to the STōK Cae Ras that has grabbed Broadhead’s attention.

McKenna explained that Ipswich can’t really afford to let Broadhead leave right now, though, as there have been absences out wide of late.

The Ipswich boss claims that it’s ‘not the right time’ to sell Broadhead to Wrexham, but believes the situation could develop soon.

“No update from what I said last week, really, with Nathan,” said McKenna. “He’s expressed his desire to look at another opportunity that’s been presented to him. But at this moment, with the position the club is in, it’s not the right time or even a possible time for us to allow a good player to leave the building. We’ll have to see how the situation plays out over the coming weeks.

“Yeah, he’s been training, and we’re short in those positions. He’s missed some of the pre-season minutes, so he hasn’t played quite as much, but, yeah, he’s in our plans for the weekend and there’s every chance that we’ll need a strong contribution from him,” he added.

Ipswich snub another winger bid

Broadhead still seems likely to sign for Wrexham this summer, but a deal may just require some patience.

As a youngster, Broadhead spent time in the Wrexham youth ranks before leaving for Everton at the age of just 10.

Broadhead may feel a sense of ‘unfinished business’ at Wrexham, and that could be driving his desire to make the move.

Ipswich are in a tricky position right now, though, with winger Jaden Philogene picking up an injury against Auxerre over the weekend.

According to The Athletic, Ipswich have now rejected an offer from Nottingham Forest for winger Omari Hutchinson.

Talks are ‘ongoing’ with Forest, while Premier League rivals Brentford are also interested in signing Hutchinson.

McKenna’s options out wide are in flux right now, so Wrexham may need to wait and hold their nerve in the pursuit of Broadhead’s signature.
