Wrexham have already sent Thomas O’Connor to Peterborough United and have now agreed another deal with the League One side.

Wrexham have snapped up Ben Sheaf on transfer deadline day, signing the Coventry City captain in a £6.5million deal.

Phil Parkinson is still working on more signings, with Manchester City’s Issa Kabore set to join Wrexham on loan.

Blackburn Rovers defender Dominic Hyam is now close to signing for Wrexham as well, with Parkinson hoping to end the day with three signings.

Wrexham must also move players out of the club, with defender Thomas O’Connor signing for Peterborough United earlier on deadline day.

Peterborough United announce Jacob Mendy deal

O’Connor will now be joined by a very familiar face.

Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony has taken to social media to confirm the signing of Wrexham’s Jacob Mendy.

Just like O’Connor, Mendy is joining the Posh on a season-long loan deal ahead of the window slamming shut on Monday night.

MacAnthony confirmed that Mendy is Peterborough’s final signing of the window, with two Wrexham loan additions bringing the curtain down on their business.

Parkinson made Mendy available earlier in the summer window, having brought in another left wing-back in Liberato Cacace.

Reports last week suggested that Mendy could stay put after all, especially after starting against Preston North End in the Carabao Cup.

Cacace is now back from injury, though, and Wrexham have sanctioned Mendy’s departure on a temporary basis.

Mendy played a key role in two promotions at Wrexham, featuring prominently in the National League and League Two campaigns.

While the Gambian was part of Wrexham’s squad last season, he didn’t play enough games to officially go down as a promotion winner from League One.

Jacob Mendy may have played his final game for Wrexham

O’Connor’s move to Peterborough had been rumoured throughout deadline day, but there was no mention of Mendy leaving.

The Posh have managed to secure an unexpected deal, and may have brought an end to Mendy’s Wrexham career in the process.

Mendy signed a new contract last season, tying his future to Wrexham until the end of the 2025-26 season.

Wrexham hold a one-year option on that deal, but it looks unlikely that he will be staying on beyond the end of this season.

The move to Peterborough allows Mendy to go and play first-team football, handing him a chance to stay with the Posh permanently or put himself in the shop window for a move elsewhere.

Now playing under a Wrexham hero in Darren Ferguson, Mendy will hope for a strong League One campaign before a firm decision on his future next summer.
