Wrexham look set to see their attempts to sign a Championship star come up short on deadline day.

Wrexham are doing what they can in the final hours of the summer transfer window, with Phil Parkinson’s side being linked to a few players.

Already this summer, Wrexham have signed 10 new players, and we look set to have signing no.11 with reports that Wrexham are set to sign Issa Kabore on loan from Man City on deadline day.

Elsewhere, Wrexham are trying to sign Ben Sheaf from Championship rivals Coventry City with the Dragons looking set to pay £6.5m for the experienced midfielder.

Another experienced Championship name on their radar is Zak Vyner at Bristol City.

Wrexham told Zak Vyner is not for sale on deadline day

Ahead of deadline day, Wrexham submitted a bid to sign Vyner from Bristol City, which was swiftly rejected. Then, Wrexham returned with another offer, around the £2million mark, which was also rejected, before reports revealed Phil Parkinson’s side had gone in with a third bid.

On deadline day, it was revealed that Wrexham were submitting a third bid to sign Vyner worth £2.5million. But Sky Sports News revealed on their live transfer blog (September 1st, 12:44), that Vyner is not for sale.

Sky Sports write that Wrexham and Tom Brady’s Birmingham City, who are also in the race, ‘have been told Zak Vyner is not for sale by Bristol City at any price – even £5m’, adding that Vyner is ‘relaxed about the situation and is enjoying his football’ under new manager Gerhard Struber.

What to expect from Wrexham on deadline day

A deal for Kabore is set to be announced, and it’s looking like Sheaf’s move to the Racecourse is pretty far advanced, and it’ll take Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac’s summer spending close to the £40million mark.

Meanwhile, there are some outgoings to keep an eye on with reports that Tom O’Connor is set to join Peterborough United in League One, having fallen down the pecking order this season.

But Parkinson looks set to miss out on Jordan James who looks poised to join Leicester City, after Wrexham were linked with a move for the Welsh international ahead of deadline day.
