Wrexham are set to miss out on a summer transfer target manager Phil Parkinson has called ‘good’.
Wrexham have a busy seven hours ahead of them with plenty of activity still expected before the deadline.
Centre-back Aaron James could leave on loan with interest emerging in the youngster over the weekend.
Elsewhere on the outgoings front, Thomas O’Connor can leave Wrexham before the end of today.
Meanwhile, at least two more signings are heading to North Wales today.
Ben Sheaf is joining from Coventry City in a £6.5m deal, while Issa Kabore will move to Wrexham from Manchester City on loan.

Wrexham miss out on Jordan James
However, one transfer target will not be lining out for Ryan Reynold’s and Rob Mac’s club in the near future.
Former Birmingham City midfielder Jordan James emerged as a Wrexham target earlier this month.
Phil Parkinson commented on signing James recently, saying: “He’s a player we’ve looked at, also I know him from his time at Birmingham as well and followed his progress in the Welsh team and Rennes,” said Parkinson.
“Obviously (he’s) a good player, but he’s just one of a lot of players we’ve looked at over the last month or so.”
But Darren Witcoop is now saying that Leicester City are pipping Wrexham to his signature.
He wrote: “All points to Leicester now pipping Wrexham and Ipswich to the loan signing of Wales midfielder Jordan James. Also wanted by Parma. Getting a very good player.”
Ben Sheaf vs Jordan James
Despite missing out on James, Wrexham are getting at least one midfielder through the door today.
Sheaf is an experienced Championship option with over 100 appearances at this level.
James has featured in the second tier as well, having been relegated with Birmingham City in 2023/24.
| Championship stats | Ben Sheaf | Jordan James |
| Appearances | 161 | 95 |
| Goals | 7 | 9 |
| Assists | 8 | 2 |
Sheaf has been praised by Declan Rice as well as former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.
