Wrexham will only add quality additions to their squad this summer.

Phil Parkinson is clear on his transfer strategy and has refused to sign any players with egos or superstars as he looks to build a Wrexham squad capable of ruffling feathers within the Championship.

Wrexham are interested in Lewis Travis from divisional rivals Blackburn Rovers and the midfielder would be an excellent addition in the middle of the park for Parkinson’s side.

Aaron Cresswell has been offered a contract by Wrexham but it is another Premier League target for the Red Dragons that was once touted for an England call-up by a Premier League winner.

Joleon Lescott once touted Craig Dawson for an England call-up

Joleon Lescott won the Premier League with Manchester City twice during an illustrious career at the Etihad Stadium.

However, in the summer of 2014, Lescott moved to West Bromwich Albion, where he played alongside Wrexham transfer target Craig Dawson.

Speaking back in 2014, Lescott was full of praise for the defender and even claimed that Dawson was deserving of a call-up for the England squad.

Lescott stated: “He’s got a lot of experience and plays with a lot of knowledge.”

Parkinson is targeting Premier League quality this summer and wants to bring in experience following the departures of Steven Fletcher and Mark Howard from the group.

Lescott explained: “The way he [Dawson] plays is very mature and if he keeps playing that way I’m not sure he is too far away from England to be honest.”

Wrexham’s pursuit of Craig Dawson made easier by Wolves decision

Wrexham’s pursuit of the 35-year-old defender has been easier after Wolves officially confirmed Dawson’s departure.

Shaun Harvey hinted at free agent signings and Dawson could be the first on the list should he accept the contract on the table to move to the Racecourse Ground.

He would be another shrewd acquisition by Parkinson and provide experience and guidance in the back line to the young duo of Max Cleworth and Lewis Brunt.

Dawson has also played with skipper James McClean in the past and would have no trouble settling into the squad with such a professional and committed attitude to the game.
