Wrexham are going to be involved in a number of transfer headlines this summer, with rumours coming out almost every day now.
Wrexham are bound to be linked with a number of potential new signings this summer as Phil Parkinson gears his side up for what will be an extremely challenging 2025/26 Championship campaign.
But it’s now been reported that Wrexham have a £25million transfer budget for this summer and so the Dragons could do their fair share of spending, with some top names already linked with potential moves to the Racecourse.
And there’s a growing number of midfielders linked with Wrexham ahead of the summer transfer window opening on June 1st, including the likes of Fulham stalwart Tom Cairney and Tom Lawrence who’s now been released by Rangers.
Another midfield mentioned with Wrexham is Nottingham Forest’s Lewis O’Brien.

Alan Nixon confirms Wrexham interest in Lewis O’Brien
Forest paid £10million to sign O’Brien as part of a double deal with Harry Toffolo back in 2022. But the 26-year-old midfielder has made just 13 league appearances for the club since, spending the majority of his time with the club out on loan.
Ahead of the summer, it has been rumoured that Wrexham want to sign O’Brien, along with Swansea City who had the Englishman on loan for the second half of the 2024/25 Championship season. And journalist Alan Nixon has now confirmed the Dragons’ interest in O’Brien.
He wrote on Patreon that Valencia are interested in signing O’Brien this summer along with Wrexham and their new Championship rivals Preston North End, who are new entrants into the race to sign O’Brien this summer.

How much do Nottingham Forest want for Lewis O’Brien?
Forest finally look set to sell O’Brien on a permanent deal this summer. His move to the club clearly hasn’t worked out and his contract is set to expire next summer, so a sale in this upcoming summer window makes sense.
And since his move to the club, it’s been reported time and again that the Reds would sell O’Brien for £10million. Though no fresh price tag has been reported for this summer’s transfer window.
Although it was reported in November 2024 that LAFC, O’Brien’s former loan club, were poised to complete a £7million deal to sign the player last year, though that obviously never came to fruition.
Anything just below that could be what Forest truly value O’Brien at, given they now have just two transfer windows to sell the player, or risk losing him for nothing.
