Paul Mullin looks set to return to League One next season with Wigan Athletic closing in on a move.
After their interest first emerged in May, it was reported earlier this week that Wigan Athletic were still in talks with Paul Mullin about a transfer.
Previous suggestions were made about the Wrexham striker being allowed to leave for free this summer.
We then shared on Thursday that Mullin could leave on loan in the current window instead.
A further update then stated that Wigan were in talks about a loan move for the 30-year-old.
Should Mullin indeed join the Latics, he will be going head-to-head with two former Wrexham players for one prize.

Paul Mullin will battle two former Wrexham players for League One prize
After turning down a Wrexham contract this year, Sam Dalby has now joined Bolton Wanderers on a free transfer.
Wigan were linked to Dalby as well as Mullin, but he’ll be lining out for Bolton in the third tier next term.
As well as the recently released striker, another ex-Red Dragon is currently set to compete in League One.
That man is Davis Keillor-Dunn, who Wrexham released for free back in 2020.
Both Dalby and Keillor-Dunn had prolific 2024/25 seasons – the former on loan at Dundee United and the latter with Barnsley.
| Player | League goals 24/25 |
| Keillor-Dunn | 18 |
| Paul Mullin | 3 |
| Sam Dalby | 14 |
Now, Mullin, Dalby and the Barnsley ace will all be battling it out to try and win the League One Golden Boot next season.
Mullin fell well short in 2024/25, but a full pre-season and more regular minutes could see the striker rediscover his best form.

Wrexham interest in Davis Keillor-Dunn
Wrexham have already signed one striker this summer, landing Ryan Hardie from Plymouth Argyle.
It remains to be seen if another centre-forward will arrive at the Racecourse Ground in the coming months.
But Wrexham have looked at Keillor-Dunn already this summer, and he’s thought to be available for around £2.5m.
