2024 is coming to an end and Wrexham should be in a strong position as Phil Parkinson continues to pick up results.

Wrexham secured back-to-back promotions, rapidly progressing from the National League to League One under Phil Parkinson.

Gauging expectations before the start of the season was a tough one.

Ryan Reynolds wanted another promotion whereas Humphrey Ker was looking to consolidate in midtable.

Almost halfway through the season, Wrexham are going strong; second in the table with just three defeats in League One.

Wrexham’s home form has been outstanding under Parkinson and that could be the backbone to a strong season.

Phil Parkinson on January transfer window

Wrexham may need some more additions in January despite enjoying a strong summer window.

Reports suggest that Wrexham want another striker with Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds ready to splash the cash on a big Championship goalscorer.

That could help Wrexham secure a third promotion in a row and Phil Parkinson has now commented on the upcoming transfer window.

Speaking to The Leader, Parkinson suggested that the planning is always ongoing, highlighting that Wrexham could welcome some loan players back to the club.

Parkinson thinks that there could be a number of comings and goings in January but wants to make sure that Wrexham don’t lose any momentum with January business.

“January comes and that process is ongoing always because we’ve got players on loan who could come back,” he said.

“We’ve got other players who’ve been out the frame and may want to go so there’s a lot of decisions to be made.

“My job is to to sit down with everybody and make sure we make the right ones and keep the momentum we’ve got,” he added.

Who have Wrexham loaned out?

Parkinson mentioned loan players potentially coming back to Wrexham and there are a handful of players currently playing elsewhere.

Striker Sam Dalby has been in fine form for Dundee United, scoring eight times in his last nine appearances for the club.

Dundee United boss Jim Goodwin wants to sign Dalby permanently and we can’t see him returning to the STōK Cae Ras.

Billy Waters has been playing an important role on loan at Halifax Town but Jake Bickerstaff’s time at Altrincham hasn’t quite gone to plan.

Bickerstaff has struggled for regular action at Altrincham with star striker Regan Linney sitting second in the National League scoring charts.

23-year-old Bickerstaff could return to Wrexham in January but only to facilitate another move elsewhere with his development stalling.

Luke McNicholas is at Rochdale whilst Jordan Davies is impressing at Grimsby, with neither looking likely to return to Wrexham either.

Perhaps Parkinson has a surprise up his sleeve in January, but fans will be hoping for big additions rather than returning loanees.
