Wrexham have announced the signing of Josh Windass, but are now pushing to make it four signings in the space of a week.
Wrexham’s Championship opener against Southampton is just over two weeks away, and Phil Parkinson is ramping up his recruitment drive.
Josh Windass has become Wrexham’s latest signing, penning a three-year deal on Wednesday after leaving Sheffield Wednesday.
This has been a busy period for Wrexham, with Liberato Cacace arriving from Empoli in a club-record move on Friday.
George Thomason joined Wrexham on Monday, finalising a £1.2million move from Bolton Wanderers.
Three in five days is a pretty impressive flurry of activity for Parkinson, but one more signing now looks to be close.

Wrexham close in on Lewis O’Brien deal
Wrexham have been chasing Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien for much of the summer transfer window.
Reports recently suggested that Wrexham had agreed a fee for O’Brien, but the midfielder’s wages proved to be a problem.
Fans were given fresh hope on Wednesday, as reports claimed Wrexham were making a new move for O’Brien.
The proposal to Forest was a lower transfer fee, which allowed greater flexibility for Wrexham to meet O’Brien’s wage demands and take him off Forest’s hands.
Tom Coleman of Wales Online now reports that O’Brien is set for a medical with Wrexham as a deal moves closer.
Coleman claims that a fee has been agreed between Wrexham and Forest, with O’Brien now ‘on the verge’ of joining the recruitment drive.
The original proposal was £5million for O’Brien, and even with a reduction, Wrexham may be on the verge of setting a new club record.
The Sun’s Alan Nixon adds that Wrexham’s move for O’Brien is ‘moving very fast’ and ‘should be done quickly’ with Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds pushing to fund a hugely important signing – and potentially another club-record deal.
Pete O’Rourke adds that O’Brien has now agreed a three-year deal with Wrexham and will finalise his move in the coming days.
Wrexham transfer flurry will leave fans excited
Wrexham needed to invest in new signings this summer, and incoming business was fairly slow before the pre-season tour to Australia and New Zealand.
Ryan Hardie arrived for £700,000 and Danny Ward rejoined Wrexham for free, so spending was fairly measured early on.
Wrexham are now splashing the cash, and the total spend for Cacace, Thomason, and O’Brien will take the summer outlay towards the £10million mark.
Add in Windass on a free transfer, and Wrexham are doing some great business, bringing in proven Championship quality as well as an impressive foreign import and a League One talent who has been on an incredible rise.
O’Brien will be the marquee addition, having produced brilliant performances in the Championship for Huddersfield Town, Middlesbrough and Swansea City.
Former Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick praised O’Brien as ‘pretty special’ for his personality and character when speaking to The Northern Echo in 2024, and that isn’t even factoring in the quality he possesses on the ball.
The business won’t be finished just yet, but Wrexham’s flurry over the last week leaves us excited and much more comfortable with the quality of Parkinson’s squad ahead of the new season.
