Wrexham have made a decision on Sam Dalby’s immediate future but his long-term situation is still up in the air.
Wrexham came into the January transfer window with Phil Parkinson needing additions.
Now chasing a third straight promotion, Wrexham could be just a couple of key additions away from being a Championship club.
Wrexham have snapped up Ryan Longman but the new man from Hull City isn’t a natural centre forward.
Reports suggest that Wrexham want another striker and that will hopefully materialise before next week’s transfer deadline.
Wrexham have allegedly made an approach for Michael Smith and a move for the Sheffield Wednesday man has come about after a decision on Sam Dalby.

Sam Dalby on his future amid Wrexham offer
Wrexham’s striker pursuit has come whilst Sam Dalby has hit the form of his life away from the STōK Cae Ras.
Dalby struggled for goals in League Two last season and Wrexham decided to loan him out to Dundee United.
Nobody could have expected Dalby to become such a sensation in Scotland but has now racked up 11 goals in 23 games.
Dalby has been praised in Scotland as he now sits top of the Scottish Premiership scoring charts after scoring against Rangers on Sunday.
That display came just a couple of days after Wrexham finally confirmed that Dalby would not be recalled – despite the striker hunt.
Wrexham did though confirm that Dalby has already been offered a new contract with his current deal set to end this summer.
Dundee United are chasing European qualification this season but Dalby has now told The Daily Record that he isn’t thinking about that just yet.
Dalby wants to focus on Dundee United purely on a game by game basis rather than thinking whether he will still be at the club next season.
Dalby added that the situation surrounding a Wrexham recall may have subconsciously affected him, but he is now happy to be staying at Tannadice.
“Yes, of course. It’s something that, obviously, would be good,” said Dalby.
“But I’m not really focused on that at the minute. I’m just trying to take it game by game and just help my team out. Obviously, Dundee United’s a great place to be and I’m really happy here.
“To be honest, I would say I’ll not think about it until the end of the season, really, once the season’s finished. We’re in a good position in the league and I just want to focus game by game to help my team and try and stay up the table.
“The fans have welcomed me with open arms and the staff and fans and all the players have been really good to me.
“So, yes, I’m happy to be here. I’ve tried not to think about it, but it’s something that probably, subconsciously, maybe I have. But, yes, I’m happy that I know I’m definitely staying here for the rest of the season and I can just focus on every game that we’re going into,” he added.
Don’t be surprised if Dalby rejects Wrexham deal
Dalby is playing all questions about his future with a straight bat – even when European qualification is brought up.
Wrexham have clearly been impressed with Dalby’s form in Scotland but we wouldn’t be surprised to see him snub that deal.
Dalby’s stock has never been higher and he will be looking to make the absolute most of the hype around his performances.
A return to Wrexham would likely see Dalby take on a similar role to last season, spending large spells on the bench – especially if Phil Parkinson secures another promotion.
Dalby really needs to take this great season and kick on with his career, something which is just unlikely to happen at Wrexham.
Dundee United want to sign Dalby permanently but we have no doubt that the likes of Aberdeen, Hibernian and Hearts are watching on with interest as he continues to shine.
