Wrexham have made a habit of getting what they want under Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s ownership, but the club were recently rejected by one star.
Earlier this month, Wrexham released eight senior players who are due to be out of contract at the end of June.
Ryan Reynolds sent messages to Mark Howard and Steven Fletcher, who were included in that list.
Fletcher is leaving Wrexham ‘not by choice’, while Howard is looking to play more minutes after acting as the third-choice goalkeeper for the Dragons.
Other notable names on the released list were Jordan Davies and Sam Dalby.

Ryan Reynolds message to Sam Dalby
Wrexham offered Dalby a contract renewal during the 2025 winter transfer window.
However, when announcing their retained list, the club confirmed that the striker ‘was offered a new contract in January but turned this down, and so will also be leaving the Football Club with our thanks for his efforts during his time here.’
Dalby spent 2024/25 on loan in Scotland with Dundee United and has now been sent a message by Reynolds.
The number nine posted to Instagram this week about his spell with The Tangerines.
Reynolds then quoted the post on his own Instagram story, simply writing “Congrats @samdalby30”.

Where will Sam Dalby go after leaving Wrexham
It has, unsurprisingly, emerged this week that Dundee United will offer Dalby a contract.
However, they are not the only side thought to be interested in the soon-to-be ex-Wrexham ace.
But the centre-forward’s future seems far from certain just yet, with his post that Reynolds quoted perhaps leading some to suggest it was a goodbye message to Dundee United.
He wrote: “I would like to thank everyone involved at @dundeeunitedfc from the fans to the players and staff for an unforgettable season. From the moment I got here I felt a part of the family and for that I’ll forever be grateful. The club deserves European football and I can’t say how happy I am to be a part of the team that helped achieve that. Thank you for an amazing season.”
Should Dalby opt to extend his stay in Scotland, he would be playing in Europe in 2025/26 as Dundee United will be competing for Europa League qualification.
