After a rather subdued start to the summer transfer window, it’s all of a sudden burst into life at Wrexham, with the Dragons looking like they have several potential new signings in the pipelines.

So far this summer just the two new players have arrived at the Racecourse in Ryan Hardie and Danny Ward. But it seems like Wrexham have been working hard behind the scenes with multiple reports of players nearing a move to Wales.

Currently, the team is in New Zealand. Wrexham play Wellington Phoenix in the final game of their Down Under tour before returning to Wales where they’ll play two more pre-season friendlies, before the season opener against Southampton on August 9th.

After a busy 24 hours on the transfer front, here’s all the latest Wrexham news…

Wrexham seal deal for Liberato Cacace

The big news of course is that Liberato Cacace has joined Wrexham in a club record £4million transfer from Serie B side Empoli.

Wrexham announced the signing on Friday ahead of their game against Wellington Phoenix on Saturday morning: Cacace is a 33-time New Zealand international and used to play for Wellington Phoenix.

Wrexham weigh up Alfie Jones bid

Another big money signing could soon follow Cacace with Hull City’s Alfie Jones having emerged as the Dragons’ latest centre-back target.

A new central defender has been on Parkinson’s wishlist all summer and recent reports have revealed how Wrexham are weighing up a £3million bid for Jones this summer.

Owen Beck now considering Wrexham move

Despite the signing of Cacace, Parkinson could now add another left-back to his ranks on Owen Beck.

The Liverpool youngster looks set to head out on loan this summer and the Championship looks like his likeliest destination, with Wrexham among the many teams rumoured to be interested.

The latest on this front is that Beck is now considering a move to Wrexham, despite a move previously thought to be unlikely.

Wrexham move for George Thomason at Bolton Wanderers

Yet another new name on their radar, and another that the Dragons are reportedly weighing up a multi-million pound move for is George Thomason at Bolton Wanderers.

In a bid to shore up the midfield, emerging reports this week have revealed how Wrexham are plotting a £1.2million bid for Thomason, who captains Bolton in League One.

Sheffield Wednesday confirm Michael Smith and Josh Windass exits

Sheffield Wednesday are going through the ringer right now. Players are going unpaid and handing in their notices, but Parkinson could yet benefit from the turmoil going on at Hillsborough.

Both Josh Windass and Michael Smith are striker targets for the Dragons this summer. On Thursday, Sheffield Wednesday announced Smith and Windass are leaving, becoming free agents with plenty of interest in either.

Sivert Mannsverk is a new target for Wrexham

A midfield signing is still very much needed for Parkinson, and the latest name who could fill that spot is Ajax’s Sivert Mannsverk.

The Norwegian spent last season on loan with Welsh rivals Cardiff City where he made 14 Championship appearances in the second half of the season. Journalist Pete O’Rourke now says that Wrexham are interested in a loan deal for Mannsverk.

Luke Bolton poised to leave Wrexham

Despite the flurry of rumoured signings and the arrival of Cacace, it’s now reported that defender Luke Bolton looks set to leave the Racecourse, as many expected he would do this summer.

Reports on Friday revealed that Bolton has agreed a move to Mansfield Town in League One, with a move now seemingly imminent.
