The goal took a while to come but Ollie Rathbone rifled home the winner in injury time, handing Wrexham a 1-0 victory.
That result allowed Wrexham to cut the gap to Wycombe Wanderers at the top of the table, with the Chairboys only drawing at Exeter City.

Steve Bruce is backing Birmingham for the title, believing that they will claim League One’s top spot by 20 points.
Birmingham’s enormous summer spending spree means they will be favourites for the title, even if they sit third right now.
Former Blues right back Stephen Carr has now had his say on the League One landscape whilst speaking to GOAL.
Carr believes that the new-found ‘rivalry’ between Birmingham and Wrexham is great for the Football League and great for League One.
Carr feels that seeing Birmingham and Wrexham attract celebrity headlines and major sponsors is ‘brilliant,’ believing that the two clubs have made League one more attractive.
The Irishman pinpointed the impact of Ryan Reynolds in terms of Wrexham’s rise and thinks he has certainly helped shine a light on League One.
“It’s good for the Football League. It brings bigger gates. Birmingham, the crowds they are getting in League One, there are teams in the Premier League that can’t match it,” said Carr.
“It’s not just the big games, they are getting the same crowds that we got in the Premier League against the lesser teams at that level, so it’s had a positive effect. With that you get bigger sponsors, you have more power, you are well respected and have big connections. It’s brilliant. It’s put Wrexham up there as well – Ryan Reynolds and all. It’s great for League One, brings a lot of spotlight that it wouldn’t have had before, so it’s great for all the teams,” he added.
When do Wrexham play Birmingham City again?
Wrexham’s first meeting with Birmingham was like nothing we have seen before.
Sky Sports devoted an hour of build-up to the game, something often only done for huge Premier League encounters.
Rob McElhenney and Tom Brady engaged in banter online and the hype around the game just kept growing and growing.
Wrexham ended up losing the game 3-1 but will be keen to exert revenge at home against the Blues.
Birmingham travel to the STōK Cae Ras on Thursday, January 23 with the game set to kick off at 8pm.
