A player who left Wrexham this summer has been given a key role by his new team.

When the 2024/25 season was over, eight players left Wrexham as their contracts were running out this summer.

Steven Fletcher was forced out of the club and could now be set to retire from football.

Mark Howard has joined Salford City in search of more regular playing time moving forward.

Elsewhere from the retained list, Sam Dalby has moved to Bolton Wanderers in League One.

It comes after Dalby rejected a Wrexham contract earlier this year during an impressive loan spell with Dundee United.

Bolton Wanderers give Sam Dalby prestigious shirt number

Dalby suffered an injury for Bolton during pre-season, which has limited his appearances for them so far.

At the time, it was suggested the former Wrexham man would be back for the start of the proper campaign.

That kicks off for the Wanderers this weekend against Stockport County, and ahead of the tie, Bolton have confirmed their new squad numbers for 2025/26 via their official website.

The full list can be seen below, and Dalby has been given the number 10 – one of the most coveted shirt numbers in football.

Dalby joined Wrexham in 2022 and during his three years with the club, wore number 18.

Wrexham number 10 history includes Paul Mullin

The number 10 shirt has been donned by some major names at the Racecourse Ground over the years.

Most recently, it was worn by Paul Mullin from the day he signed until his exit to Wigan Athletic.

Wrexham will confirm their official squad numbers for 2025/26 before their game against Southampton next week.
