George Evans shares emotional Wrexham exit message
The exit of George Evans followed up those departures, as the midfielder left Wrexham by mutual consent.
Evans has joined Burton Albion on a free transfer, dropping back into League One after Wrexham’s promotion to the Championship.
The midfielder joined Wrexham in the summer of 2023, trading in Championship football to join the Wrexham journey in League Two.
Evans struggled with injuries throughout his time at Wrexham, though, and his departure made sense for all parties.
Evans has now taken to social media to share an emotional goodbye message to Wrexham, reflecting on an ‘incredible’ couple of years at the STōK Cae Ras.
The 30-year-old added that he has met ‘amazing people’ during his time at Wrexham, and thanked both Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds for welcoming him to the club.
Evans hopes to see Wrexham enjoy more success going forward, and received heartfelt responses from the likes of Ollie Palmer, Max Cleworth, Sam Smith, Andy Cannon, Jack Marriott, Anthony Forde, Modou Faal, Dan Scarr and captain James McClean, who all showed their love.
‘Where do I start… what an incredible few years it’s been at Wrexham, I can’t thank you enough for welcoming me into your club and giving me memories that will last a lifetime.
‘I’ve been fortunate to meet some amazing people both on and off the pitch, and I’ll always be incredibly grateful to Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac for giving me the opportunity to be part of something so special.
‘Wishing everyone involved with the football club nothing but success in the future!’ he added.
Ollie Palmer message to George Evans
Evans also sent a message angled towards Burton Albion fans, sharing his excitement after securing his deadline day move.
‘Delighted to be here. Excited for the season ahead!’ said Evans, alongside photos of himself donning the Burton Albion shirt.
Former Wrexham teammates again sent messages to Evans, showing their love for the midfielder once more.
‘New general. Good luck my boy,’ said Ollie Palmer, while Sam Smith and Modou Faal offered their support again.
Palmer had already celebrated Evans’ move, but offered more support for his former Wrexham teammate.
Ollie Rathbone simply stated ‘all the best mate’, with Humphrey Ker adding ‘G’wan Georgie’ as the midfielder embarks on a new journey.
Evans reunites with former teammates James Jones and Sebastian Revan at Burton, and he will hope to play a key role under Gary Bowyer after his injury-hit spell with Wrexham.
