Wrexham have said goodbye to George Evans, terminating the midfielder’s contract on deadline day as he joined Burton Albion.
Wrexham’s transfer window is over, and Phil Parkinson can be delighted with his summer business.
13 new faces have joined Wrexham and a late deadline day flurry saw three signings arrive at the STōK Cae Ras.
Ben Sheaf joined Wrexham from Coventry City for £6.5million before Issa Kabore arrived on loan from Manchester City.
Wrexham snapped up Dominic Hyam from Blackburn Rovers late in the day, paying £2.7million for the centre-back.
The new signings are exciting, but we also saw a number of players leave the STōK Cae Ras for first-team action elsewhere.

Ollie Palmer sends message to George Evans
Thomas O’Connor joined Peterborough United on loan before Jacob Mendy secured his own move to the Posh just hours later.
Wrexham also released George Evans, terminating his contract by mutual consent to facilitate a move to Burton Albion.
Evans has struggled with injuries ever since joining Wrexham in 2023, and Phil Parkinson has decided to let him move on.
The 30-year-old will reunite with former Wrexham teammates James Jones and Sebastian Revan at Burton Albion, signing a one-year deal with the option of another year.
Evans may not have played as much as he would have liked at Wrexham, but he was a popular figure at the STōK Cae Ras and earned the nickname ‘Gorgeous George’.
Perhaps a modelling career awaits Evans down the line, but he will continue his playing career away from Wrexham for now.
Ollie Palmer has now sent a message to Evans on his Instagram story, stating ‘Gawjus George, good luck schannn’.
Palmer left Wrexham for Swindon Town on Friday, and has now seen Evans follow him out of the STōK Cae Ras.
Palmer hopes to see Evans shine at Burton Albion, and you would do well to find a Wrexham fan who doesn’t want the best for both players after their roles in the club’s rise.
Burton Albion boss on George Evans deal
Brewers boss Gary Bowyer has offered his thoughts on Evans’ move, speaking to Burton Albion’s official website after securing the deal.
Bowyer believes that Evans will be a ‘great role model’ for Burton’s young midfielders, highlighting his experience as a major factor behind the transfer.
Evans also showed a real ‘desire’ to join Burton, leaving Bowyer impressed as he pushed through a deal for the midfielder.
“We’re delighted to bring George to the club, he will be a great role model for our young midfielders,” said Bowyer.
“George has played for some big clubs and his experience will be a big advantage to us and our group. I was also really impressed with his desire to come and play for the club,” he added.
Palmer will be supporting Evans from afar, and Wrexham fans will surely follow suit – possibly starting with an EFL Trophy clash against Liverpool Under-21s on Tuesday night.
