Wrexham have confirmed another player departure with Jack Marriott joining League One Reading on a permanent deal.
This summer has been all about the signings at Wrexham. So far Wrexham have signed 10 new players spending more than £30million on the likes of Nathan Broadhead, Callum Doyle, and several more.
Last week, Wrexham confirmed the £8million deal to sign Doyle from Premier League giants Man City and Phil Parkinson says he wants more signings before the September 1st transfer deadline.
But Parkinson has also said there will be player departures. There are several players on the peripheries of the side and seemingly without a future at the club.
Jack Marriott was one, and on Tuesday afternoon Reading announced that they’d signed Marriott for an undisclosed fee.

Reading manager buzzing after signing Jack Marriott from Wrexham
The 30-year-old striker is about as experienced as they come, but for Wrexham and Marriott it never quite clicked. Wrexham signed Marriott from Fleetwood Town in 2024, but in 27 total appearances for the Dragons, Marriott scored just five goals.
Speaking to the club after the signing was complete, Reading manager Noel Hunt shared his delight at the move, Hunt said: “Jack is a fantastic addition to our group. He knows this division inside out, he’s got a real eye for goal, and he brings experience that will really help our younger players as well. Having been part of a promotion-winning side last season, he also knows what it takes to succeed.
“We’re excited to get him into the squad and I’m sure our fans will enjoy watching him in a Reading shirt.”

Jack Marriott’s career so far
Marriott has enjoyed a long and successful career so far. He’s represented multiple teams in England and in the Football League, having won promotion twice in his career, both times with Wrexham from League Two and then League One.
He’s also won a number of individual awards over the years, including Player of the Season awards at Ipswich Town, Luton Town and Peterborough United, having also been named the League One top scorer on one occasion.
Born in Beverley, Marriott started his career with Ipswich Town but made his name during a spell with Luton Town between 2015 and 2017 and then with Peterborough United from 2017 to 2018.
Since then, Marriott has had prolific spells with the likes of Derby County, Fleetwood Town and again at Peterborough, and at 30 years old he’ll still feel as though he has a lot to offer providing he can stay injury-free and get a good run of form going at Reading.
Wrexham meanwhile return to action against Preston North End in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.
