One Wrexham man could be handed a new role after securing a transfer away from the Racecourse Ground this week.

The Red Dragons remain well over the EFL Championship squad limit following the addition of Nathan Broadhead.

This comes despite the fact that Wrexham have already moved on a number of players in the last few months.

Eight players were released by the Dragons when their contracts expired at the end of June 2025.

Paul Mullin has joined Wigan Athletic on loan, while fringe stars such as Will Boyle and Luke Bolton have been sold.

The most recent Wrexham exit saw Sebastian Revan secure a loan move to Burton Albion.

Sebastian Revan could play in new position after leaving Wrexham

Wrexham signed Revan on a permanent deal from Aston Villa last summer but he struggled for regular first-team minutes.

James McClean, Ryan Longman and new signing Liberato Cacace were all ahead of the left-wing-back in the pecking order at the beginning of the season.

So it was not too surprising to see Revan loaned out to the League One side this summer.

Now, in the August 15 print edition of the Burton Mail, manager Gary Bowyer has suggested that the Wrexham left-back could now be an option in midfield for his team.

He said, as shown on PressReader: “He’s [Revan] not just a left-wing-back, he can play midfield, I’ve seen him play midfield as well.

“He does provide us with, again, that flexibility in the squad.”

Will Sebastian Revan play for Wrexham again

Revan has only played one game as a midfielder during his senior career, according to Transfermarkt.

At Wrexham, he was largely used off the left of the back five but played on the opposite flank as well.

He remains under contract until 2027 and is still only 22 years of age.

But Revan’s long-term future will likely depend on how he performs while out on loan, and the displays of McClean and Cacace this term.

The former was due to be out of contract in 2026, but he has recently signed a 12-month extension.
