Wrexham have ended 2024 on a real high having beaten Wigan Athletic 2-1 at the STōK Cae Ras on Sunday afternoon.

Another superb year to be a Wrexham fan is coming to an end.

Wrexham clinched promotion to League One back in April and will now end 2024 sitting second in the table.

Sunday’s 2-1 win over Wigan Athletic wasn’t pretty but Phil Parkinson watched on as Wrexham got the job done.

Parkinson hailed Steven Fletcher as the veteran striker came off the bench to score the winner for the second game in a row.

Two wins to end 2024 is just ideal for Wrexham and the perfect platform ahead of a crucial January transfer window.

Wrexham investor celebrates double victory

We have become used to seeing reactions from Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds after Wrexham wins.

McElhenney backed Parkinson after beating Exeter City, simply posting ‘In Phil We Trust’ on social media.

McElhenney and Reynolds have been quiet after Sunday’s victory but there has been reaction from Wrexham’s new investor.

The Allyn family invested in Wrexham back in October with the Americans taking a stake in the club.

Parkinson praised the Allyn family, suggesting that they are a simply ‘fantastic’ fit for Wrexham.

Eric Allyn has now taken to social media to react to Sunday’s win, simply posting ‘don’t forget to sing when you win’.

Allyn used the introduction song to ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ to celebrate as both Wrexham and the Buffalo Bills won.

Allyn’s beloved Bills defeated the New York Jets in the NFL on Sunday, meaning Allyn enjoyed a double victory.

How Wrexham start 2025

There is no real rest for Wrexham right now as the busy festive period continues.

On New Year’s Day, Wrexham travel away to Barnsley to kickstart 2025.

Wrexham beat Barnsley 1-0 at home earlier in December with Ollie Rathbone’s late strike securing the win.

Parkinson would no doubt love to repeat the trick at Oakwell as Wrexham start 2025 on the road.

Wrexham then host Peterborough United before an EFL Trophy clash against Port Vale.

The FA Cup clash with Reading has been postponed but Wrexham will take on Shrewsbury Town and Birmingham City in big back-to-back games.

A home clash with Stevenage finishes up January for Wrexham with Parkinson no doubt seeking a fast start to the new year after ending 2024 on a high.
