Wrexham legend Ollie Palmer’s departure has sparked a brilliant reaction from Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac as the striker discusses what the Red Dragons’ owners have done since he joined Swindon Town.

Ollie Palmer left Wrexham this summer after his contract was mutually terminated, bringing an end to three-and-a-half years in North Wales.

When Palmer arrived at the club in the National League years, he was embraced by the fanbase, but also Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac, who both took a shine to the forward.

Reynolds and Mac struck up a friendship with Palmer while he was at the club, and even though the 33-year-old has now departed from the Racecourse Ground, the Wrexham owners have continued to do one thing following the striker’s move to Swindon.

Ollie Palmer jokes that Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac are ‘now Swindon fans’ after move

While Ollie Palmer has moved on to pastures new, Ryan Reynolds has shown his support by reposting the striker’s first Swindon Town goal.

Both Wrexham owners left a mark on Palmer, who, even though he has moved on from North Wales, still discusses the pair regularly.

When asked about Rob & Ryan in his recent Swindon Town press conference, Palmer spoke in depth about the support he had received.

“It is always a pleasure to be around Rob & Ryan and they’re amazing people,” said Palmer via the BBC.

“Off the pitch, you can already see them supporting Swindon Town and they’re on social media which is great for the football club, but they’re only doing it as them, as people – they don’t get anything out of that.

“There’s no financial gain, it doesn’t give them exposure, they’re just doing it out of the goodness of their own heart. Because I’m here, they’re probably now Swindon fans.”

Palmer is already off the mark in a Swindon shirt after producing a fine finish in the EFL Trophy against League One side Reading in a 3-2 win.

Ollie Palmer’s favourite Wrexham moment

The impact that Ollie Palmer had at Wrexham cannot be underestimated, and while his part was more limited in the League One promotion-winning season, he still fully deserves credit for the part he played.

Wrexham’s talisman spoke about his time at the club following his move to Swindon Town, and unsurprisingly reflected on the three promotions, which saw the club rise from the National League to reach the Championship.

“That was pretty special, I’m not sure if that will ever be recreated again. So I know it’s not one particular moment, but that experience of back-to-back-to-back promotions was pretty special and unique, so probably that.”

While Palmer is no longer at Wrexham, it can be guaranteed that we have not heard the last of him. So long as he continues to shine for Swindon Town, Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac will continue to be in awe of Palmer.
