Perhaps Wrexham will have another brush with the play-offs this season, but the strange thing is that Paul Mullin is currently a non-factor.
Fans have become used to seeing Mullin smashing goal after goal in the promotion run-in, but that is not the case right now.
Paul Mullin’s Wrexham rise recognised
Mullin has been a goal machine for Wrexham ever since joining in 2021.
National League and League Two defences saw Mullin run riot on his way to becoming a Wrexham goal hero.
This season has been trickier though with Mullin struggling for goals at League One level.
Mullin recently suffered an injury but his absence from the Wrexham starting XI is all down to selection right now.
Parkinson has admitted leaving Mullin out as he just prefers other strikers at Wrexham right now.
That is quite the change for Mullin, but his rise to stardom as a Wrexham hero has now been recognised – by EA Sports FC 25.
As part of Ultimate Team on FC 25, the ‘Grassroot Greats’ promo hands special attributes to players who have come from lower league and become stars.
Mullin has now received a special card as part of the promo, raising his overall rating from 68 to 90.
Wrexham fans will no doubt flock to secure Mullin’s new card and pay tribute to the goal machine on FC 25.

Paul Mullin, the story so far
Mullin being recognised here certainly makes sense, but some fans may not be aware of his journey to Wrexham stardom.
The striker actually started out at Everton and Liverpool but didn’t make the grade with either of the Premier League sides.
Huddersfield Town took a chance on Mullin as a teenager but he failed to make a single appearance for the Terriers.
Mullin was let go by Huddersfield but impressed at Morecambe, leading to spells with Swindon Town and Tranmere Rovers.
A 2020 loan spell to Cambridge United turned into a permanent move and Mullin became a star, smashing 32 goals to fire Cambridge to promotion.
After spending most of his career in League Two, Mullin finally had the chance to head not League One as a star.
That’s where Wrexham come into the picture.
Rob McElhenney tempted Mullin to Wrexham, trading in League One football for the Wrexham project in the National League.
Mullin’s decision was questioned but he not only became a hero on the pitch but also off it as he earned notoriety on ‘Welcome to Wrexham’.
Maybe Mullin never returns to the Wrexham starting XI and perhaps his time at the STōK Cae Ras is coming towards its end as the club rapidly moves forward.
Whatever happens in the coming months, Mullin’s contribution will never, ever be forgotten and he will certainly go down as a modern Wrexham hero.
