Wrexham may have allowed Sam Dalby to leave the club on loan but will still love seeing him shine at Dundee United.

Wrexham left it very, very late to alter Phil Parkinson’s attacking options before the transfer deadline.

Modou Faal joined Wrexham from West Bromwich Albion on transfer deadline day as Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds invested in the Gambian forward.

As Faal arrived, Wrexham allowed a handful of forwards to leave the club on loan.

Billy Waters returned to Halifax Town and Jake Bickerstaff headed to Altrincham whilst Sam Dalby headed to Dundee United.

Wrexham have still been forced to sign a free agent striker in Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, but will have one eye on those loanees.

Sam Dalby wins Dundee United award

Dalby’s move to Scotland came late in the day but had the support of one Wrexham star.

Steven Fletcher loved seeing Dalby join Dundee United having previously turned out for the club himself.

Dalby was recently praised for a fine goal against Motherwell and the goals have continued to flow.

The Wrexham loanee scored in a 1-1 draw at Hibernian before adding to his tally in a 3-0 win over Ross County on Saturday.

That is now four goals in five games for Dalby, who has hit a real hot streak in front of goal.

Dalby has therefore been named Dundee United’s Player of the Month for October – even though two of those goals have come in November.

Dundee United fans are clearly appreciating Dalby’s all-round game and may well want the Wrexham striker to stay a little longer.

Sam Dalby on Wrexham fans

Dalby’s Wrexham contract expires at the end of the season and, unless there is an option for it to be extended, we would expect him to be moving on.

Dundee United may well be a new home for Dalby but Wrexham fans continue to keep close tabs on his progress.

Speaking on Dundee United’s official YouTube channel, Dalby admitted that it’s ‘always nice to hear’ that Wrexham fans are asking about him whenever his name is mentioned on Dundee United’s social media.

Dalby noted that his two years in the Wrexham side were ‘great’ having won back-to-back promotions, so he still appreciates the support from Wrexham fans even after leaving.

“That’s always nice to hear,” said Dalby.

“I’ve spent two years there so far and it was a great two years with two promotions, and it’s always nice to hear stuff like that,” he added.

Dundee United now sit fourth in the Scottish Premiership table, just three points behind Rangers as things stand.

Dalby may well help Dundee United push for European qualification this season and Wrexham fans will be supporting him all the way – even if he never actually plays for Wrexham again.
