Phil Parkinson admitted Wrexham departures will occur this summer and there continues to be speculation over the futures of Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer.

Wigan are interested in Sam Dalby after the striker rejected the offer of a new contract at the Racecourse Ground and Dalby has discussed the improvement in his game following a loan spell at Dundee United.

Sam Dalby believes he has ‘improved dramatically’ away from Wrexham

As per the Leader, Dalby has told the Dundee Courier that he believes that his game has ‘improved dramatically’ during his loan spell at Dundee United this season.

The 25-year-old scored 15 goals in the Scottish Premiership and has fired a dig at Parkinson in his explanation for the transformation in his form.

Dalby stated: “I had played a lot of games over the previous two seasons – but I was usually only coming on with five minutes to play. Especially as a striker, that’s not enough. I needed a run of games.

“Thankfully, I’ve had that this season, and I can tell from the way I play now – even compared to the start of the season – that I have improved dramatically.

“That’s something I always thought I could do and, credit to him, I think the gaffer (Jim Goodwin) saw that potential in me from watching me at Wrexham. That’s why he brought me in.

“He wanted to invest in me because he believed in me, and I am very thankful because that belief has helped me massively. I have had a great season because of it.”

What Phil Parkinson has said about Sam Dalby upon his Wrexham departure

Parkinson spoke with Dalby after he rejected the offer of a new contract and made his intention to leave the Red Dragons clear.

Wrexham’s manager stated: “I had a good chat with Sam the other day and I am pleased for him. Obviously we spoke to him in January about extending his contract and we didn’t want to call him back.”

The striker will not be short of options after his impressive loan spell, Blackpool are also interested in Dalby as well as League One rivals Wigan.

What is clear is that Dalby will not be wearing the red shirt of Wrexham next season and the club may be ruing the fact that he is leaving on a free transfer following his hot streak this campaign.
