Wrexham fans have another new signing to celebrate after forward Josh Windass completed his move to the STōK Cae Ras on Wednesday.

Phil Parkinson snapped up Ryan Hardie as his first summer signing, bringing the Scot to Wrexham in a £700,000 move.

Hardie arrived just a week after fellow Scot Steven Fletcher departed Wrexham, and a week before Paul Mullin joined Wigan Athletic.

Wrexham have now pounced for another attacking addition, with Josh Windass arriving at the STōK Cae Ras on Wednesday.

Windass became a free agent last week, tearing up his contract with Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

The 31-year-old has quickly signed for Wrexham, offering Parkinson another real goal threat in the Championship.

Sheffield Wednesday fans on Josh Windass move

Windass has penned a three-year deal with Wrexham and should play a key role this season and beyond.

The forward is the third Wrexham signing in the last week, but potentially the most exciting given his proven record in the Championship.

Wrexham fans are certainly excited to see Windass sign, and Sheffield Wednesday fans aren’t happy to see him leaving.

Wednesday fans have taken to social media to react to Windass’s move, believing that he could be Wrexham’s best signing of the summer.

Some believe that Windass is a ‘ridiculous’ signing for Wrexham and actually feel that some Wednesday fans have underappreciated him in recent times.

Other Owls fans are gutted to see Wrexham swoop in to sign Windass, having been so far behind Wednesday in years gone by, and find the forward’s exit ‘heartbreaking’.

When will Josh Windass and Wrexham face Sheffield Wednesday?

Wrexham open the season against Southampton, but Windass doesn’t have to wait too long for a meeting with Wednesday.

Wrexham’s third game of the season and second home game of the campaign sees Wednesday travel to the STōK Cae Ras.

Wednesday fans seem likely to give Windass a decent reception, though that may change when the whistle blows!

Windass will return to Hillsborough on January 31, heading back to Sheffield just weeks into 2026.

The Owls know exactly what Windass can do in front of goal, and will be looking to keep him quiet when facing him as a Wrexham player.
