Wrexham secured a 1-0 win over Crewe Alexandra in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday, earning their place in the next round of the competition.
Wrexham beat Crewe 1-0 thanks to a 79th-minute goal from academy product, Aaron James.
It wasn’t the most entertaining 90 minutes from the Red Dragons but that was to be expected after Phil Parkinson made 11 changes from the team that beat Burton Albion on Saturday.
The players who did line out at the Racecourse Ground in midweek had mixed showings. Wrexham fans hit out at Modou Faal, who started up top alongside Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, who also struggled.
Paul Mullin’s issues in front of goal continued against Crewe as well, with the striker missing another big chance after coming off the bench for a second game in a row.
On a more positive note, Wrexham fans were left in awe of Brad Foster following his debut after signing as cover for Callum Burton last week.

Wrexham fans spot unknown ‘player’ in attendance vs Crewe
Foster arrived on a short-term loan deal to aid Wrexham’s goalkeeping crisis but it appears another player could be on his way to signing for the Red Dragons.
It was a small crowd in attendance for the home meeting, which was to be expected given that, in the grand scheme of things, the EFL Trophy isn’t a major priority.
However, one eagle-eyed supporter who did make the trip to the Racecourse has now shared something very interesting on X/Twitter.
A player, unknown to Wrexham fans, was pictured in attendance vs Crewe while wearing a club jacket.
He is also said to have met up with Parkinson while at the match.
Exactly who the man is and if he’s actually a player remains to be seen, but we could learn more in the coming days.

Which players do Wrexham want to sign in January
While the club have just brought in Foster, another goalkeeper could still be signed in case anything happens to Mark Howard.
Parkinson wants another Wrexham signing and is battling the EFL over whether his team can make an emergency loan addition between the sticks.
Away from the goalkeeper spot, the Red Dragons are looking to improve their forward line in January.
Wrexham want Manchester United forward Ethan Wheatley but are facing competition from League One rivals, Stockport County.
