Wrexham players are officially back in for pre-season training as preparations for the new campaign get underway.
Wrexham face Southampton in their Championship season opener and Phil Parkinson will now be hoping for a good pre-season to prepare for the visit to St Mary’s Stadium.
A tour to Australia awaits for Wrexham and Parkinson revealed the competitiveness in the transfer market that the Red Dragons are currently facing.
Owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have vowed to back the club in the market once again this summer but some plans may have changed after Parkinson’s latest fitness update ahead of the players’ return.

Modou Faal injury could scupper Wrexham transfer plans
Speaking to the Leader, Parkinson has revealed that Wrexham duo Modou Faal and Andy Cannon will not be returning to pre-season training due to long-term injuries.
Cannon is on the road to recovery following an ACL injury sustained back in February and is not expected to be part of any pre-season plans.
Parkinson stated: “Mo has still got a problem with his thigh which will take a while and Andy is out as well but everybody else should be fit and raring to go.”

Faal had thigh surgery in April and is yet to fully recover enough to take part in any session yet, meaning any decision about his future at the club will be put on hold.
It is thought Faal could be sent out on loan this season in order to gain regular first-team football for his development but this ongoing fitness issue could scupper that plan.
Keeping Modou Faal wouldn’t be a bad idea for Wrexham
Faal was a deadline day signing for the Red Dragons last summer and came with a lot of promise and excitement.
The 22-year-old showed flashes of what he is capable of last season, however, he failed to nail down a regular run of games in the side.
| Modou Faal’s record last season | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Faal | 16 | 3 | 1 |
Faal has the attributes for the Championship, he is strong, quick and can provide Wrexham with a real threat up top next season.
Parkinson will hope that his recovery from the thigh injury won’t take too long and he can get some minutes under his belt this summer before any decision is made.
