‘Dangerous’ Wrexham player surely set to leave as club line up move for former England international

A number of players are expected to leave Wrexham over the course of the 2025 summer transfer window.

The 2025 summer window officially opens on June 1 before closing again briefly and then reopening on June 16.

Prior to the window opening, manager Phil Parkinson admitted that players will leave Wrexham this summer.

Already, a few big hitters have been tipped for potential exits, including Paul Mullin being linked to Wigan Athletic.

Elsewhere, Ollie Palmer spoke about his future recently after, like Mullin, being axed from the match squad since January 28, 2025.

But the club’s rumoured transfer activity could also spell the end for another player.

Wrexham signing Aaron Cresswell could be bad news for one full-back

It emerged recently that, along with the recently promoted Leeds United, Wrexham are interested in Aaron Cresswell.

Cresswell is set to leave West Ham United on a free transfer, and the three-time capped ex-England international would bring some experience to the club’s backline.

The defender is a natural left-back but can also operate in a left-sided centre-back role.

Should a deal get over the line, it would leave Parkinson with four, five if you count Ryan Longman, left-back options.

James McClean is the club captain and is expected to play regularly in 2025/26.

But the arrival of Cresswell would likely be bad news for one of Sebastian Revan or Jacob Mendy.

Revan is still only 21, and while some think the Wrexham defender’s 2024/25 was disappointing, he could still reach his full potential in Wales.

As a result, it seems very likely that a new left-back arriving would mean Mendy moving on.

What Phil Parkinson has said about Jacob Mendy

The left-back joined Wrexham in 2022 from Boreham Wood for an undisclosed transfer fee.

Speaking in 2024, Parkinson called Mendy ‘dangerous’, saying: “Barney and Jacob looked dangerous but sometimes you go through periods where things don’t fall for you and I think we’re definitely having a bit of that at the moment.”

In total, the 28-year-old has made 76 appearances for the Dragons in all competitions, scoring six and assisting five.

Wrexham gave Mendy a new contract earlier this year, which keeps him at the Racecourse until 2026 with the option of a further year.

But after playing just 93 minutes of league football across the most recent season, it would make sense for the player to now be moved on, especially if Cresswell or another left-back arrives.
