Wrexham are in the market for a new striker once again this summer, with Paul Mullin expected to leave.
Along with Ollie Palmer, Wrexham ace Paul Mullin has been backed to secure a transfer away from the club this summer.
Wigan Athletic are interested in Mullin, and have recently lost the transfer race for Sam Dalby to Bolton Wanderers.
With higher quality options needed up front going into the 2025/26 Championship season, the Red Dragons have their eye on a number of new strikers.
Callum Robinson and Ryan Hardie are linked, meanwhile, we previously revealed that Wrexham have had talks with Danny Ings.
Sky Sports then also mentioned the club’s interest in the West Ham United forward, with Championship rivals Watford also keen on Ings.
But while Ings could be a good short-term solution for Phil Parkinson, there is another gem the club have already offered a contract to.

Wrexham made right choice offering Rio Owen a contract
Wrexham released eight players in May when they confirmed their retained list following the 2024/25 season.
In that announcement, they also confirmed: “Offers have been made to the following players to become first-year professionals at the Club:”
- Tom Kelly
- Max Purvis
- Alex Moore
- Rio Owen
Born in Bangor, Wales, Owen is a product of the club’s academy and has spent his short career to date with the club.
While he’s yet to step up to senior level, the pacey forward has been simply immense for the club’s reserves, especially in 2024/25.
2023/24 saw the attacker find the net a total of nine times in 18 appearances.
This past campaign, meanwhile, Owen, who turns 19 in September, hit a staggering 28 goals across 39 outings.

Wrexham should loan Rio Owen and more gems this summer
While Owen clearly has huge potential, it probably wouldn’t be fair to throw him straight into the Championship.
However, a loan move for the attacker in the summer transfer window would make a lot of sense.
Phil Parkinson commented on Wrexham loans this week, saying a move for Aaron James and another player could be on the cards.
He said: “Callum [Edwards] did well on loan with Bala and we reward the lads who go on loan and progress,” said the Reds’ boss.
“We are pleased with how Aaron did in a tough season for him.
“We are looking to see how they do in pre-season and maybe loaning them both out again.”
