Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson has lost Ollie Palmer as more players from the famous National League-winning side come close to an exit in what feels like the end of an era for the club.
Wrexham’s rise to success since Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac took over at the club has been unprecedented, with the Red Dragons rising through the lower EFL divisions to reach the Championship.
The Red Dragons were unable to notch promotion in Reynolds and Mac’s first season at the club, having suffered a crushing defeat to Grimsby Town in the play-off semi-finals, but that only made Wrexham stronger as they returned the following year to win the league.
Towards the end of an emphatic season in the National League, Wrexham achieved promotion with a 3-1 home win against Boreham Wood. It was a historic moment for the club, but one that feels like a lifetime ago.
A number of players from that squad have already moved on, and now Ollie Palmer has joined that ever-growing list.

Ollie Palmer departure leaves 10 existing players from famous Wrexham National League side
Ollie Palmer has joined Swindon Town this summer, with his move being confirmed by the club on Friday afternoon. He will join a long list of Wrexham players to move on that helped the club emerge from the mire of the National League.
As things stand, only 10 players remain from the National League squad, including Paul Mullin who has moved away from Wrexham on loan to Wigan Athletic, as well as Jake Bickerstaff who finds himself at Cheltenham Town.
Other prominent members of the National League squad who remain include Wrexham legend Elliot Lee, whose game time has been limited this season, as well as Max Cleworth, who continues to leap to the next level under Phil Parkinson.
In addition to Palmer, it looks as though a further three members of the National League squad could depart the Racecourse Ground in the coming days.

Wrexham trio could follow Ollie Palmer out of the exit door
Following the departure of Ollie Palmer from Wrexham, the future of three further players remains uncertain as deadline day looms.
Elliot Lee’s future has been up in the air this summer with it being clear that he is not a prominent figure in Phil Parkinson’s plans.
Similarly to the loss of Palmer, the potential departure of Lee would similarly hit hard after the integral role he played in the National League and League Two, notably.
As well as Lee, Jacob Mendy is not a part of Parkinson’s plans, nor is Thomas O’Connor who is ‘considering’ leaving Wrexham.
Change is inevitable in football, especially when a club rises at the speed Wrexham have managed to do, but it still feels like the end of an era to lose Palmer, with more departures expected.
