The start of the Championship season is just around the corner now, and you’re probably sat there wondering who to pick in your Fantasy EFL team. So, here are the Wrexham players you should be considering.
Wrexham are gearing up for a long-awaited return to the second tier after 43 years away, and Phil Parkinson has already assembled a strong squad thanks to new signings this summer.
There’s still work to be done for the Red Dragons, with Juan Camilo Portilla expected to be next through the door.
If you like the idea of being a football manager, you’re more than likely plotting your next move on Fantasy EFL. The season-long game sees players put together a seven-man team, with two players from any given club allowed at once.
So, we figured you could do with a little help organising your team. Here are two Wrexham players you should be thinking about adding to your roster for the start of the Championship season, and two players that’ll bring you plenty of points as the campaign goes on.

Two Wrexham players who can bank points in Fantasy EFL vs Southampton
Wrexham’s first Championship fixture is a lunchtime kick-off against recently-relegated Southampton. It’s bound to be one of the toughest tests of the season for the Red Dragons, so our first tip would be to avoid any Wrexham defenders at this stage of the campaign.
Instead, Wrexham could find a way through a Southampton defence that conceded a whopping 86 goals in the Premier League last season; more than any other team in the division.
We’ve already tipped Josh Windass to be the signing of the summer for Wrexham, and he’ll be eager to prove himself in that opening game. With a resilient and gritty attitude, bundles of creativity, and a penchant for stunning goals, Windass is a must-have if you want to gamble on Wrexham’s chances against the Saints.
Meanwhile, Wrexham have a few different strikers to pick from, but Ryan Hardie looks the most likely to start and score at the moment. He’s already bagged in pre-season, and with Sam Smith’s fitness an issue, Hardie is likely to get the nod.

Wrexham players who offer long-term value in Fantasy EFL this season
While Hardie will probably suffer from rotation across the campaign, Windass is a very strong pick long-term and will surely pick up plenty of points.
However, our tips for the season overall are two Wrexham players Phil Parkinson will rely on the most in the Championship.
First up is Arthur Okonkwo. He kept 19 clean sheets across the League One campaign in 2024/25 and proved he’s one of the best young goalkeepers in the EFL.
Okonkwo is excited about stepping up to the Championship, and while Wrexham will no doubt have their backs against the wall at times defensively, their number one will be a safe pair of hands you can trust.
Second, we’re backing Max Cleworth to continue his impressive rise through the Football League to be one of the standout stars in 2025/26.
He was Wrexham’s best player last season, and Shaun Harvey thinks Cleworth will play in the Premier League one day; whether that’s with Wrexham or not remains to be seen.
Wrexham might not keep as many clean sheets this season, but Cleworth registered seven goals and two assists from defence last term. A goalscoring defender is a valuable commodity in Fantasy EFL, and few can rival Cleworth in that department.
