New Wrexham signing Josh Windass has scored some impeccable goals at Sheffield Wednesday, which attracted huge praise from journalists.
Wrexham have signed Josh Windass following his departure from Sheffield Wednesday.
Whilst Windass had plenty of interest from fellow Championship clubs, the Red Dragons managed to sneak ahead and snap up Sheffield Wednesday’s top scorer from last season.
It is expected that Windass will help transform Phil Parkinson’s attack, as Wrexham now have two proven forwards at Championship level in the former Sheffield Wednesday and Rangers star, as well as Ryan Hardie.
Windass’s term at Sheffield Wednesday was filled with ups and downs, but he notably scored some mind-boggling goals, some of which attracted praise from different journalists.

The ‘incredible’ Josh Windass goal vs Derby County that was David Beckham-esque
During his time at Sheffield Wednesday, Josh Windass often stole the show with his goal-scoring record. He was not only clinical; however, he had an ability to do the unthinkable from distance.
Like David Beckham managed whilst at Man United against Wimbledon, Windass managed a pitch-perfect halfway line goal against Derby County, which saw his lofted effort somehow end up in the back of the net.
Windass’ goal against the Rams shook social media and even left BBC Sheffield reporter Rob Staton in awe of what he had witnessed at Hillsborough Stadium by the Sheffield Wednesday forward.
He wrote: “One of the best goals you’ll ever see from Josh Windass. The vision, the execution. Was ten yards inside his own half. Incredible goal.”
Wrexham signing Josh Windass was lauded for ‘sensational’ strike vs Blackburn Rovers
It was not unlikely for Josh Windass to attempt the audacious, and that was the case against Blackburn Rovers.
The ball dropped to Windass in the early minutes of the contest about 40 yards out, and with the Rovers goalkeeper noticeably off his line, he sidefooted a lofted effort over the top and into the vacant net.
Reporter Dom Howson was stunned by Windass’ goal, and he decided to take to X and write: “Sensational technique from Windass. Probably only him and Bannan capable of scoring that goal in this Sheffield Wednesday squad.
“A brilliant piece of improvisation and quick bit of thinking.”
Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac were clearly keen to bring a bit of excitement and X-factor to the Wrexham side – it is safe to assume that they have struck gold with this signing.
Hopefully, Windass can produce more breathtaking moments at the Racecourse Ground and help Wrexham become a powerhouse in the Championship.
