Wrexham’s best and worst signings so far as ‘great’ striker who Phil Parkinson loves fails to hit the heights

Two Wrexham attacking signings have been at the forefront of Phil Parkinson’s plans, but only one has successfully hit the heights so far.

Wrexham found themselves on the receiving end of a defeat to QPR this weekend, which has left the Red Dragons occupying 21st place in the Championship.

All things considered, it has been a lacklustre start to the 2025/26 season, with the exception of their EFL Cup run.

Following the 3-1 loss to QPR at the Racecourse Ground, pressure has begun to mount on Phil Parkinson, with there being an acceptance that it has been a poor start to the season.

Wrexham went into the season with lofty expectations due to the 14 signings that were made, and while some have proven their worth already, a number of those still have far more to show.

Kieffer Moore has been Wrexham’s best purchase this summer

When Wrexham signed Kieffer Moore in a permanent deal from Sheffield United, the deal received criticism from supporters of other clubs.

Many believe that it was a poor decision made to offer Moore a three-year contract in the latter stages of his career, but so far this season, the Wrexham striker has been phenomenal.

Moore has scored half of Wrexham’s Championship goals this season, and his impact is shown by the downfall of his previous club, Sheffield United, who have scored just one goal this campaign.

Wrexham fans have taken a shine to Moore, suggesting that he and George Dobson have both been the Red Dragons’ top performers this season.

Plenty more is expected of Ryan Hardie this season

Wrexham’s first signing this summer saw Ryan Hardie join from Plymouth Argyle.

However, the Red Dragons striker is yet to notch a goal in the Championship, having only found the back of the net in the EFL Cup.

Phil Parkinson referred to Hardie as a ‘great’ signing in pre-season, but he has since been unable to kick on in the league, often being overshadowed by fellow striker Kieffer Moore.

Wrexham fans may be concerned over Hardie’s previous inconsistencies in the Championship, which are illustrated in his stats from the 2024/25 season.

Last season, Hardie scored a respectable 10 goals in 37 Championship games, but nine of those games were under Miron Muslic in the latter 17 games, while the first 20 saw him notch just one.
