Wrexham now appear to have a clear run at signing one player on deadline day.

It is set to be a busy day at the Racecourse Ground with multiple players potentially joining.

With a £6.5m deal agreed, Wrexham are signing Ben Sheaf from Coventry City on September 1.

On top of the experienced Championship midfielder who has previously lined out for Arsenal, a Premier League talent is heading to North Wales.

Issa Kabore is signing for Wrexham on a season-long loan deal from Manchester City after the right-back had interest from around Europe.

Now, the Dragons have been handed a boost in their pursuit of another target.

Wrexham handed Jack Robinson boost

Reports emerged earlier this month that Wrexham were looking into signing Jack Robinson from Sheffield United.

That potential move appeared to have died down until this weekend, when a fresh update emerged.

It was said that Robinson was a target of Watford and Wrexham, with journalist Darren Witcoop explaining:

“Sheffield United defender Jack Robinson is a target for Watford and Wrexham before the window closes. The Welsh club still looking to add to their defensive ranks despite landing Callum Doyle.”

A report from The Star on September 1 now says that the centre-back is facing an uncertain future at Sheffield United.

But more importantly, it’s said that despite holding talks with the player, Watford have decided to move for Formose Mendy instead.

So, it appears that Phil Parkinson’s side are now the only club left in the running for the player.

Wrexham may need to move on centre-backs

As well as Robinson, Wrexham want to sign Zak Vyner and were preparing a £2.5m bid on deadline day after having two previous offers knocked back.

The additions of Callum Doyle and Conor Coady, plus the potential arrivals of Vyner and Robinson, mean the Dragons’ centre-back department is pretty full.

It has already been reported that Tom O’Connor can leave the club in the current transfer window.

Elsewhere, Aaron James could now leave on loan after receiving an offer over the weekend.
