Wrexham have let plenty of players leave this summer, but one has now suggested he is staying put.

The 2025 summer transfer window slams shut on September 1, and there is plenty of activity still expected to happen at Wrexham before then.

Another midfielder appears to be the main priority for the Dragons, with Jordan James eyed in a £4.3m deal.

Away from a potential incoming or two, Wrexham could let several players depart as they look to trim their inflated Championship squad.

Jack Marriott is linked with an exit, but another player who has not featured much over the last year looks set to stay.

Harry Ashfield hints he’ll stay at Wrexham

The 2024/25 season saw Harry Ashfield break into the Wrexham first-team picture.

The academy graduate was a regular feature in the EFL Trophy, a competition the Dragons no longer compete in.

Fans wanted Ashfield to play more after he shone during the 2025 pre-season tour of Australia.

But given his lack of senior experience – seven total appearances in all competitions – and all the new signings made this summer, a potential transfer for the Wrexham youngster, who is yet to feature in the Championship, was mooted.

Ahead of Preston North End, however, the 19-year-old has seemingly all but confirmed he’s staying put in the final week of the window.

The teenager said Parkinson wants to see what he can do when given the chance, adding he hopes to play as many games as possible this year.

Ashfield said, as per BBC Sport: “He [Parkinson] just wants me to show what I can do on the pitch when he gives me the opportunity.

“Being on the bench the other day was a good moment, I just want to push on and it means everything.

“I just learn in training from the players we’ve brought in and then push on. Hopefully I’ll play as many games as possible this year. It’s an exciting time to be at the club.”

Who will leave Wrexham this week

With less than seven days of the transfer window to go, several exits could still happen.

As already mentioned, Marriott is the subject of transfer interest from League One side Reading.

Ollie Palmer’s Wrexham future remains in doubt as the deadline nears.

A loan move for Jacob Mendy has been mooted by Parkinson as well, though he has been featuring on the bench recently amid injuries at left-back.
