Wrexham have had a very busy few days on the transfer front, with players leaving and signing.
With the likes of Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer struggling for goals this season, the Welsh outfit have been in the market for a striker during much of the 2025 winter window.
It’s been slow going but two new centre-forwards were signed by the Red Dragons heading into the weekend.
Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez have joined Wrexham – the latter until 2026 and the former in what is believed to be a club-record move.
Modou Faal was the previous transfer record, setting Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds back £590,000.
As well as new arrivals, another player has now left the Racecourse Ground this window with James Jones’ Wrexham departure confirmed on January 31st.

Jones played a crucial role in the early stages of Wrexham’s rise out of the National League and up to League One.
His game time was heavily limited in 2024/25 but after his exit, McElhenney sent a message to Burton on X/Twitter.
He wrote: “@burtonalbionfc you are getting a class player with a huge heart and wonderful family.”
Burton, who also recently signed former Wrexham player Jon Dadi Bodvarsson as well, have since responded to the actor’s tweet.
They wrote: “Excited to have James here. We will look after him and the family @RMcElhenney”.

More players could leave Wrexham after James Jones
Jones is the latest but is unlikely to be the last player to depart Wrexham before the window slams shut on Monday evening.
With their new strikers signed, the future of two of the club’s current centre-forward options has been cast into doubt.
Multiple clubs are said to have asked about Mullin and Palmer following Wrexham’s signing of Smith and Rodriguez.
Whether those deals would be loans or permanent transfers is not yet known but it does seem likely at least one of the duo will leave this month.
Like Jones, they have been excellent servants to Wrexham but as the club continues to grow, these tough decisions have to be made.
