Wrexham fans will be expecting an attacking signing in the January window but one target has picked up an injury.
Wrexham have entered the January transfer window sitting third in the League One table.
After back-to-back promotions, Wrexham have a genuine chance of a third in a row under Phil Parkinson.
Away form is a concern for Wrexham but Parkinson should feel confident of really pushing for automatic promotion.
January signings could help Parkinson get over the line and reports suggest that Wrexham want to sign a new striker.
Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds are allegedly ready to splash the cash on a goalscorer and one big name has been suggested.

Patrick Bamford injury latest
Reports in December suggested that Wrexham are interested in signing Patrick Bamford.
Bamford has struggled for game time at Leeds United this season and he would certainly fit the mould of being a proven Championship goalscorer.
Wages would surely be a problem here but the interest in Bamford has set tongues wagging.
Wycombe Wanderers ace Sam Vokes believes Bamford would bring Premier League quality to Wrexham.
Bamford was out of the Leeds United squad last weekend due to injury – and the severity may well rule out a move to Wrexham after all.
Leeds boss Daniel Farke has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that Bamford’s injury is more serious than first expected.
Farke noted that Bamford has suffered a hamstring injury which could keep him out for around a month.
Farke thinks there his only a ‘small chance’ that Bamford even returns before the end of January, potentially ruling out any transfer away in the process.
“Sadly I have to confirm it’s a bit more of a serious injury,” said Farke.
“He suffered a hamstring injury, he will be out more or less for four weeks, it could last a few more days, it could perhaps be a bit quicker depending on the rehab.
“It means there’s a small chance in the end of January he’s back in team training. We will see. Three more weeks at least,” he added.
Wrexham can’t take a risk on Bamford
Wrexham could feasibly take the view that Bamford will be back early in February and be ready to go in League One.
This just can’t happen though and Wrexham have to move away from Bamford after this injury concern.
Bamford hasn’t started a single game this season and has been through a number of injury problems in recent times.
The 31-year-old missed the start of last season with a hamstring issue and he suffered major ankle, hamstring and foot injuries in the 2021-22 season.
Bamford’s injury woes are unlikely to get any better the older he gets and this latest setback sums up exactly why Wrexham should not commit big money.
The fee and wages involved would be huge and the risk just doesn’t seem worth it after another muscle problem.
