Wrexham now look likely to miss out on one of their summer transfer targets to a Championship rival.

The Red Dragons are expected to have a busy summer transfer window with upwards of £40m available to spend.

The transfer links have been coming thick and fast at Wrexham, with a big move for Christian Eriksen touted this week.

Links to new forwards have been emerging as well, with Phil Parkinson enquiring about Davis Keillor-Dunn, who could be available for £2.5m-£3m.

Meanwhile, despite having one of the best defensive records in League One throughout 2024/25, Wrexham are eyeing fresh legs at the back.

Swansea City ace Harry Darling has been linked heavily in recent weeks, and an update on the stopper’s future has now emerged.

Norwich City frontrunners for Wrexham target Harry Darling

Swansea have offered Darling a new contract, but the Wrexham target is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal.

His current deal expires on June 30, making him an attractive free-agent proposition to a number of clubs.

Darling is a former teammate of Paul Mullin, with the pair enjoying much success at Cambridge United.

But it does not look as though the two will be reuniting at the Racecourse Ground this summer.

It has been reported by EFL Analysis that Stoke City and Norwich City have joined the race for Darling, with the latter emerging as frontrunners for the soon-to-be out-of-contract player.

Birmingham City also hold an interest in the Wrexham target, who is expected to make a decision on his future soon.

Wrexham have more defensive targets in mind after Harry Darling

The 25-year-old could have proven to be great competition for Eoghan O’Connell and Co., but even if Norwich do end up winning that race, there are plenty more defensive targets the Dragons can turn to.

A huge move for Ben Davies has been touted this summer, though his £80,000-a-week wage could make a deal difficult.

Aaron Cresswell has been linked to Wrexham, and like Davies and Darling, he is out of contract at the end of this month.

Craig Dawson is of interest as well, with Parkinson seemingly keen to add a Premier League-quality defender to his ranks.
