Wrexham face an away trip to Burton Albion on Saturday afternoon as they look to keep their place in the top two.

The Red Dragons have been on an inspired run of form of late, in no small part due to their excellent record at the Racecourse Ground.

Wrexham have picked up three wins in a row, all of which have come at home and all of which saw them keep clean sheets.

This sees Phil Parkinson’s side sat second in the division going into the latest round of League One fixtures.

However, third-place Birmingham City are just one point behind them with two games in hand, meaning Wrexham must win on Saturday to guarantee their place in the automatic promotion spots for another week.

As for Burton Albion, they are languishing in 23rd place going into the weekend with just 11 points from 17 matches.

But Ollie Rathbone has sent a Burton warning to Wrexham, urging his teammates not to underestimate the relegation-threatened side.

Wrexham team and injury news for Burton Albion clash

Parkinson is going to be without several of his top stars for the meeting with Burton this weekend.

Callum Burton was injured for Wrexham vs Barnsley on Tuesday and will now miss the trip to the Pirelli Stadium.

Wrexham could look at the free-agent market to sign a goalkeeper in the coming weeks if Burton’s injury turns out to be a long-term problem.

In the same game, George Dobson and James McClean picked up their fifth yellow cards of the season and will serve one-match bans this weekend.

Elsewhere, Jack Marriott is a long-term absentee alongside George Evans, while number-one goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo is still a few weeks away from returning.

Wrexham predicted line-up vs Burton

Given the injuries and suspensions picked up in midweek, Parkinson will be forced to make several changes to his starting line-up on December 7th.

After coming off the bench against Barnsley, Mark Howard will now be given his first League One start of the season between the sticks.

In front of Howard, Wrexham could give Jacob Mendy a rare start at left-back in place of the suspended McClean as Sebastian Revan has struggled in his limited league outings so far this term.

Midfield is also set for a shake-up thanks to Dobson’s suspension, with Andy Cannon potentially set to start at the base of midfield alongside Ollie Rathbone or Matty James.

Dobson has been used as a more advanced midfielder recently but his absence likely means we will see Elliot Lee revert back into his more natural role this weekend.

In turn, after Paul Mullin impressed Wrexham fans against Barnsley, he could finally start a game after being ousted by Lee over the last month.

Here’s how we think Wrexham will line up against Burton on Saturday.
