Ollie Rathbone and Sam Smith grabbed the headlines with their goals but it was another Red Dragon that produced a man of the match display in the crucial victory.
Parkinson’s selection dilemma heading into the match was whether or not to recall defender Eoghan O’Connell into the centre of the back three in place of Dan Scarr.
Scarr was excellent against Blackpool and with O’Connell struggling with a knee injury, the 30-year-old defender got the nod and repaid his manager’s faith in sensational style.
Every ball that was swung into the box was met by Scarr and he marshalled his defenders to yet another clean sheet through incredible leadership and determination.
