Wrexham pride themselves on having a positive group of players, and a positive changing room. But one of their rumoured transfer targets has reportedly had issues with attitude in the past.
Wrexham have spared no time in readying themselves for the summer. The summer transfer window will open on June 1st and already Phil Parkinson seems to have one potential signing lined up in Tom Cairney.
It’s been reported that Wrexham have offered Cairney a contract to sign this summer. It would see him pull in an incredible £50,000-a-week, though whether he eventually signs remains to be seen.
Meanwhile there’s a growing list of players linked with Wrexham so far this summer. There’s some exciting names too, like Jamie Vardy, and Harry Darling who is out of contract at Swansea City this summer.
The Dragons could yet raid Cardiff City for new signings following their relegation from the Championship. One potential target is Ollie Tanner.

What’s been said about Ollie Tanner to Wrexham this summer?
Wrexham are linked with three Cardiff City players in Callum Robinson, Isaak Davies and Tanner. Robinson was the first to be linked with a summer move to the Racecourse, before Wrexham Insider revealed that Wrexham also like Davies and Tanner.
All three are attacking players. Tanner, 23, played 29 times in the Championship last season, scoring twice and assisting twice. Formerly on the books at Arsenal, Tanner once rejected a move to Spurs to play regular first-team football, leading to his move to Cardiff City in the summer of 2022.
Since arriving in Wales, Tanner has played 73 total games for Cardiff, scoring four and assisting four. He mainly operates as a right-sided attacker but can also operate on the left or down the middle, or even as a wing-back.

Erol Bulut’s Ollie Tanner revelation will be a worry for Phil Parkinson
Whilst not a marquee signing as such, Tanner would be a useful player to have at Wrexham regardless; he’s got good experience of the Championship and he remains a younger player too, so there’s plenty of room for improvement.
But former Cardiff City boss Erol Bulut once had to drop Tanner because of an attitude issue. Bulut explained how Tanner needed bringing back down to earth after a bit of a breakthrough into the side, although he did say that Tanner responded positively to being dropped.
Bulut told Wales Online in early 2024: “I have spoken with him many times. The last two weeks he is doing better in the training sessions. If he continues to train like that, mentally and physically, he will be with us.
“I will remind you of one Premier League coach, Ange Postecoglou, saying about having the wrong person in the dressing room can destroy a lot of things. This, we don’t want. This, we try and manage here in our team. We want the correct characters and players in the dressing room. Everyone must help each other.
“Young players can have one or two great games and afterwards, they are flying a little bit. So, to bring them back, it takes time. Ollie had a bit of something like that, I spoke with him many times and the last two weeks he is doing well. Whether it’s Ollie Tanner, someone else, it doesn’t matter, I want the best performance and they have to give the best performance.
“If the body language in the training or dressing room is wrong then we have to separate him.”
Already this summer, Parkinson has said Wrexham won’t sign any superstars with the Dragons manager wanting to retain a positive vibe amongst the squad. Tanner might be someone who Parkinson has to do a bit of asking around on: if he’s not the right fit then he won’t be signed.
