Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham are closing in on what would be a historic promotion to the Championship.
Fresh off the back of their League Two triumph, Wrexham are eyeing a second-place finish in League One this season.
They will become the first side to win three promotions on the spin if they do go up this term and while there are no guarantees at this stage, things are looking positive.
Opta are backing Wrexham to win automatic promotion, finishing behind Birmingham City and above Wycombe Wanderers via their supercomputer.
Mike Dodds’ side have a game in hand on the Red Dragons right now, but the Chairboys still have to play a number of top teams, whereas Wrexham’s clash with Charlton Athletic on April 26 is the only hard fixture, on paper, they have left.
As a result, there is a real chance Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds’ club will be playing in the Championship for the first time come 2025/26.

Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have signed three stars who can take Wrexham to Premier League
McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds learned when Wrexham could play their first Championship game this week.
And while they and fans are no doubt excited at the prospect of lining out in the second tier, there are doubters.
Wrexham fans were sent a warning early in March, with suggestions that the club is not yet ready for the second tier.
There have been more comments made about the Welsh outfit and how they are not ready to play in the Championship yet.
However, Rob and Ryan have already made a number of signings who should not only thrive in the second division but could even help them ‘do an Ipswich’ and win promotion straight from League One to the Premier League.
Among those are Lewis Brunt, Ollie Rathbone, and the recent January addition, Sam Smith.
Brunt is getting better and better since he completed a summer transfer from Leicester City. Crucially, he is still only 24 and, in theory, yet to reach his prime playing years for Wrexham.
While at the club for just a short while, meanwhile, Smith is clearly the high-quality number nine they have been crying out for and will need in the Championship. Like Brunt, he’s still got plenty of years left in the tank.
Meanwhile, Rathbone should win Wrexham Player of the Season following his excellent form over the last several months.

Wrexham will still need to make changes in Championship
A potential spine of Brunt, Rathbone, and Smith is most certainly Championship-level.
However, like every team, Wrexham will still need to shake up their squad after securing promotion.
Conversations will need to be had regarding some of their current strikers, with Ollie Palmer now 33 and no longer featuring.
The likes of Will Boyle and Luke Bolton don’t seem to have much of a future either given how little game time they have seen in League One.
But for the most part, it’s clear Wrexham already have a very solid base to build off if and when they are promoted to the Championship.
