Wrexham are hunting January signings with Phil Parkinson currently sitting third in the League One table.

The hectic festive period is now out of the way and the attention will now turn towards the January transfer window.

Wrexham picked up 10 points from five games over the festive period, winning all three home games against Blackpool, Wigan Athletic and Peterborough United.

Just one point from away trips to Bristol Rovers and Barnsley was hardly ideal, leaving Iwan Roberts concerned about Wrexham’s away form.

Parkinson may now look towards the transfer window for reinforcements to aid the Wrexham cause with promotion the ultimate goal this season.

Phil Parkinson shares Wrexham transfer message

Wrexham are yet to do any business this month and perhaps that shouldn’t be a shock.

Ben Tozer warned fans that Wrexham wouldn’t make early signings and Parkinson tends to leave his business late in January.

Wrexham don’t play for another week though, with fans no doubt hoping that business starts to pick up.

Parkinson has now commented on the state of play, telling The Leader that agents have been ‘very active’.

Parkinson feels that there is nothing out of the ordinary in this window with managers constantly in contact over potential deals.

The Wrexham boss added that he is ‘in the loop’ regarding possible signings, even if nothing appears to be absolutely imminent.

“It’s the usual transfer window,” said Parkinson.

“Like everybody, it is looking around the market and touching base. Managers are constantly in touch with each other and obviously players’ agents are very active at this time of the year.

“We are in the loop with everything as we need to be at this stage,” he added.

Who has been linked with Wrexham?

Most of the speculation so far surrounds potential attacking signings.

Reports in November suggested that Wrexham want to sign a new striker with Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds ready to splash the cash.

A host of names have been linked with Wrexham eyeing Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt from Leeds United.

Bamford’s wages may be out of Wrexham’s reach though and Gelhardt looks close to joining Hull City.

Plymouth Argyle’s Ryan Hardie has been linked with Wrexham too, though paying a £2million fee for him seems a little unlikely.

Wrexham have reportedly eyed Harry Cornick with Bristol City boss Liam Manning confirming that Cornick can leave.

Luton Town’s Cauley Woodrow was even linked with Wrexham last week with all of Wrexham’s rumoured targets currently in the Championship.

That may be the focus for Wrexham this month with Parkinson looking for more attacking firepower for the second half of the season and beyond.
