Wales international cools Wrexham transfer speculation but he should stay on Phil Parkinson’s radar this month

Wrexham are in the market for new signings this January and Phil Parkinson may have multiple positions in mind.

We have now hit January 14 at the time of writing and Wrexham have remained quiet in the January transfer window.

Fans are so excited when January 1 hits but the reality is that most business takes a while to complete.

Phil Parkinson leaves his January business late anyway, so Wrexham fans may be in for a wait.

Wrexham would be wise to make some additions though with Wycombe Wanderers reeling in the race for promotion.

There is a real chance for a third promotion in a row and whilst Wrexham want another striker, signings in other positions should be still be considered.

Wales international cools Wrexham rumours

One name linked with Wrexham in recent days is Hibernian ace Dylan Levitt.

Reports from the RobRyanRed podcast last week suggested that Levitt was keen to sign for Wrexham this month.

As if by magic, the former Manchester United talent was then named in the Hibs starting XI against Motherwell on Saturday.

Levitt impressed boss David Gray and he may well have played his way into a more regular starting role.

The Hibs Observer have now spoken to Levitt and note that he ‘insists he’s unaware’ of speculation surrounding a move to Wrexham.

Levitt is playing down the Wrexham rumours but we certainly still believe them to be true.

The midfielder hails from North Wales and has been struggling for starts at Hibs; if Wrexham came calling, it would be more of a surprise if Levitt wasn’t interested.

Maybe Levitt wants to stay and fight for his place in Edinburgh, but we still think that he is a name to keep an eye on the final stages of the window.

Steven Fletcher rates Levitt highly and whether or not he wants to sign for Wrexham, Parkinson must still be in the market for another midfield option.

Elliot Lee is Wrexham’s key man in terms linking midfield and attack, but he needs competition and cover in that advanced midfield role.

Levitt should remain on Parkinson’s radar; he has played in an attacking midfield role in the past but is perhaps at his best a little deeper.

Adding a midfielder with guile and technical quality in the final third should still be a priority for Wrexham, adding depth and options to Parkinson’s squad.

A striker will be the priority for Wrexham but there are other ways to spark goals and attacking excellence – such as adding another link player between the lines.
