Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac have taken Wrexham to new heights, but the level of finances involved in the Championship is much higher.

Wrexham face Birmingham City in a Championship fixture this weekend, going head-to-head with the Tom Brady-backed club on Friday evening.

Brady, Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac are not the only high-profile names involved in English football, however.

Snoop Dogg has now invested in Swansea City this season and will be taking on Wrexham later in 2025.

Meanwhile, another wealthy American has been trying to buy a Championship club, it has been revealed this week.

American billionaire could rival Wrexham

As they look to be competitive in the higher tiers of English football, Reynolds and Mac have secured investment from the Allyn family.

A Wrexham stake sale at a £350m valuation has been mooted this year as well, with the owners seemingly aware they need a lot of money to compete in the second tier and beyond.

Meanwhile, one American businessman who is actually worth more than Reynolds and Mac combined is now trying to buy one of the Dragons’ Championship rivals.

Sheffield Wednesday face a potential points deduction amid their ongoing financial problems under Dejphon Chansiri.

But the Daily Mail are now reporting that John Textor has held talks with Chansiri about buying the Owls.

The Thai businessman is thought to want £100m, though there is a suggestion he could accept £70m.

How Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds compare to John Textor

Textor has previous experience in English football, having, up until recently, owned a stake in Crystal Palace.

He sold the said stake for somewhere in the region of £190m, and has an impressive net worth.

Finance Monthly reported in June that the American’s net worth is estimated to be $3.4billion.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac’s net worths put together pale in comparison.

The most recent estimates say that Reynolds has a net worth of $350m, while Mac’s net worth is claimed to be $50m.
