The Wrexham transfer team are continuing their search for recruits before the summer transfer window slams shut.
Despite enjoying one of the most impressive summer transfer window spending sprees in Championship history, Wrexham are not finished with their business yet.
The pearl of Wrexham’s summer signings came with the £10m signing of Nathan Broadhead from league rivals Ipswich Town.
As a result, Wrexham’s attention has turned to recruits in the defensive positions to bolster Phil Parkinson’s backline.
Despite being linked with a plethora of defenders, there is one name mooted for a move to the Welsh giants that ought to be most appealing for Parkinson.

Wrexham must complete Callum Doyle signing after £2m bid rejected
With central defenders imperative to Parkinson’s back-three formation, the Wrexham boss alluded to the need for defensive recruits after the heavy Baggies defeat.
With the transfer window deadline fast approaching, Wrexham are keen on Jack Robinson from Sheffield United, and the Dragons are interested in Calum Chambers after Cardiff City’s relegation to League One.
Both of those seasoned central defenders would provide excellent experience to Parkinson’s backline, but the better option for Wrexham is Manchester City defender Callum Doyle.

Wrexham had a £2m bid rejected for Doyle from Pep Guardiola’s side last week, which was £6m shy of City’s £8m valuation for the Englishman.
Wrexham’s bid for the 21-year-old was “laughed out of the room”, and the Dragons’ recruitment will need to shell out a more substantial second bid to secure Doyle’s impressive services.
Doyle featured 40 times on loan at Norwich City last season, scoring one goal and notching seven assists for the Canaries, and the defender with “the world at his feet” would be an impressive signing for Wrexham; one made necessary after Lewis Brunt’s display against West Brom.

Callum Doyle would be perfect Wrexham signing for Phil Parkinson
Goalkeeper Danny Ward angered Wrexham fans for his outing against West Brom, but defender Lewis Brunt also struggled severely in the 3-2 loss.
Brunt’s display against West Brom may well have accelerated Parkinson’s need for a new centre-half, and Doyle would be a monumental upgrade on the former Leicester City prospect.
During last season, Doyle’s defensive partner at Norwich, Shane Duffy, heaped praise on the Man City loanee.
As quoted by the Pink Un, Duffy said: “He’s got the world at his feet. He’s such a good player.
“Firstly, I think he’s just a great guy, he’s a great guy and he just wants to learn.
“Callum Doyle is just so good. He makes me look so bad on the ball because he’s so good. He’s a joy to play with.”
Doyle is a natural left-footer, which makes progressing possession much easier from the backline, and offers versatility with his capability to play as a centre-back as well as a full-back in the event of an injury for James McClean.
