Wrexham play arguably their biggest game of all time on Saturday, when they welcome Charlton Athletic to the Racecourse.

Wrexham are within touching distance of a third-straight promotion, and pf another fairy tail moment in their likewise journey under owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney so far.

On Saturday, Wrexham can earn promotion from League One if they beat an in form Charlton Athletic and if Wycombe Wanderers lose away at Leyton Orient.

Here are five early predictions for the game at the Racecourse on Saturday…

Dan Scarr vs Matty Godden will be a battle for the ages

Charlton have a ringer in striker Matty Godden. The former Coventry City hitman has 16 goals in League One for Charlton this season and he’ll be going up against a formidable Dan Scarr on Saturday.

Eoghan O’Connell is injured for Wrexham right now. But Scarr impressed against Blackpool last time out and he’ll no doubt put up a very good fight against Godden, and hopefully come out on top.

James McClean will put in a masterclass for Wrexham vs Charlton Athletic

Another player who impressed last time out was James McClean. The 36-year-old was on the scoresheet and earned praise for his performance against Blackpool, along with several other Dragons stars.

His experience and quality will be absolutely crucial in such a huge game for Wrexham on Saturday. Expect the Irish veteran to put in another stellar performance.

A Racecourse goodbye for two Wrexham heroes

With this being the last home game of the season, it could also be the last time that Ollie Palmer and Paul Mullin ever attend the Racecourse as Wrexham players. Mullin was in the stands against Wigan Athletic earlier in the month and expect him and Palmer to be at the ground on Saturday.

Palmer and Mullin have been exiled at Wrexham by manager Phil Parkinson, who looks unlikely to give them any more game time this season.

Rob McElhenney will surely be in attendance

Co-owner Rob McElhenney surprised everyone on Saturday when he appeared in the away end at Blackpool. He was also in attendance at the last home game against Bristol Rovers suggesting he’s in the country for a while.

It could also suggest that he’ll be in attendance on Saturday, hopefully to see his side get over the line and seal a historic third-straight promotion.

Nathan Jones will be silenced after Wrexham ‘circus’ comment

Charlton boss Nathan Jones caused a stir this week. Jones called Wrexham a ‘circus’ after his side’s 4-0 demolition of Wycombe last time out and it’s prompted quite the debate.

Wrexham fans have labelled Jones a ‘clown’ himself after his comments and if Wrexham do the business on Saturday, earn promotion and condemn Charlton Athletic to the play-offs, then the Welshman will be lost for words.
